Make-up artist Barbara van Munster works behind the scenes of many television programs. Among others, in ‘Ik hou van Holland’ and ‘Life 4 You’, she makes everyone beautiful. And she herself looks stunning but natural, so we are happy to announce that she shares those tips and tricks with us.
Morning ritual
“What I find very important every morning is to take a nice shower. After that, I always use a serum and day cream from Estee Lauder: the Perfectionist and Revitalizing day cream. The latter is very fresh and absorbs quickly. The CC cream from Estee Lauder is also really a hit. It really does its job well.”
Red carpet essential
“I recommend everyone to put a powder in their clutch and, if there is rare space left, a blusher. The powders from Benefit are very good. Pink gives everyone a fresh, youthful appearance, so that's a recommendation.”
Favorite brands
“Actually, I have several favorite brands. Benefit is a very good brand, but MAC Cosmetics is another brand I often work with. Two must-haves are the Touche Éclat from Yves Saint Laurent and the Voluminous Power Volume 24h Mascara from L’Oréal Paris. The latter is really suitable for everyone to create instant volume.”
Eyebrows or lashes
“Eyebrows are very important; they really determine your appearance. They should be straight and not too heavy. Balance is the most important thing. A tip: they should start straight above your eye corner.”
Million Dollar Tip
“Make sure your face has an even color. You can easily create that with a perfect color Touche Éclat and a thin foundation. After that, you can start working with color. With a bit of blush on the cheeks, your eyes always stand out, for example. What is important to pay attention to is that you keep the area around the eyes a bit lighter.”
Favorite perfume
“My favorite perfume is La Tullipe eau de parfum from the brand Byredo. This is available for purchase at places like Skins.”
Hair-do
I mainly use the shampoos from CHI; I find them very nice and they keep my hair soft and shiny. Once a week, I do a mask to keep my hair a bit healthy.”
Never leave home without
“I really won't leave the house without mascara. I must and will always wear it, and it is always in my bag. Additionally, there is always a blusher in my bag and a nude lipstick from MAC Cosmetics. I find the color Angel very beautiful.”
Trend
“The trend that should not be missed this summer is matte colored lips. I find that trend very beautiful. But subtle eye makeup is also a favorite. What I find especially important is that everyone ultimately stays true to themselves. Not every trend looks good on everyone.”
