Beauty

Sophia Tienstra, owner of beautyandthe.com and 101 Media Strategies and has a mane of hair that makes you incredibly jealous. She is a huge health lover, regularly sharing recipes, healthy inspiration, and workout tips on her site, but she definitely also stands with a vodka on the dance floor. Tell us Sophia, how do you do it, how do you become a beauty with such beautiful hair, skin, and body? Everything actually.

Morning ritual

“I regularly use Advanced Night Repair from Estée Lauder before bed and Neutral Face Cream. During the day, I use a cream from Ioma that is specially made for me based on a skin analysis. This cream works, among other things, against redness on the cheeks and dark circles under my eyes.”

Red carpet essential

“My motto is: “As long as your hair looks good!”. If you ask what my hobby is, I must honestly say that I prefer to have my hair blow-dried. I naturally have a kind of beach hair, but that is less suitable for the red carpet. Then I prefer a beautiful, shiny glamour hairstyle. No one can blow-dry my hair better than Dallal from Het Haartheater (in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid).”

5 minutes make-up

“During the week, I actually always do my makeup in 5 minutes. Yes, even though I have a beauty website. I use beauty products with the same interest as everyone else. That’s why my site is also a platform to exchange experiences. I am not a beauty blogger or a girl who slathers on thick layers of makeup. During the week, I only go for a swipe of mascara, concealer, and powder to shape my eyebrows. If I have the time, I go for dark eyes or burgundy lips.”

Eyebrows or lashes

“I have my eyebrows done by eyebrow queen Roya. Very well-known people in the Netherlands visit her. Beautiful, full, sharp eyebrows do a lot for your face. Some girls I find really less pretty because they look like Bert (from Ernie). I have fairly long eyelashes naturally and therefore can easily go out without mascara. Eyelash extensions can look really fake on some girls. I love a natural look.”

Million Dollar Tip

“A good hairdresser! Sometimes I don’t wear makeup, but when my hair looks good, I feel very confident. I radiate that too. I prefer to have my hair blow-dried every day. It’s a kind of addiction.”

Favorite perfume

“I can hardly say it, but I never to rarely wear perfume. I smell scents poorly. Strangely enough, I often get the compliment: “You smell nice!”. Very funny! I like to wear men’s fragrances. They are usually stronger scents that I do like. Unfortunately, I currently have no one to steal a fragrance from. In the past, I wore Victor & Rolf and sometimes intentionally gave my boyfriend the unisex scent from Abercrombie as a gift to wear it myself.”

Tried & Tested

“On my site Beautyandthe.com, I let the visitors of the website test our products. We work with test panels for this; we regularly post calls on Facebook or in the newsletter to get people involved. All goodies usually go to my interns. Secretly, I always keep the Maybelline mascaras and Aussie hair products for myself.”

Never leave home without

I never leave the house without my MAC concealer; I hate dark circles under my eyes. Unfortunately, I have these as a standard, and these two friends are already present when I’ve slept a few hours less. When going out, I always take my Hema eyeliner and MAC Eyeshadow to touch up the line on and in my eyes. The MAC Eyeshadow lasts for hours on the inner line of your eyes.”

Trend talk

The natural look is trendy. I love natural beauties. I personally think I look really dead tired without concealer and mascara, but I find my friends beautiful without makeup. It’s precisely because of this that you see how pretty they are; everyone can look better with the right makeup. Girls who can rock or fake this natural look are truly beautiful.
