Ginette is a freelance beauty editor at Glamour. She is an incredibly beautiful sight with her long blonde hair and her iconic eye-liner, which she apparently just creates with a HEMA pencil. She shares all her favorite products with us, and there are quite a few, as well as delicious tips & tricks.
Morning ritual
“I don't have a fixed bath ritual, and I often switch products, but I am currently showering with The Body Shop Coconut shower gel (The Body Shop) and I swear by La Mer body cream. For skincare, I always use an eye cream. My favorite at the moment is Philosophy Full of Promise duo eye cream. If I have the time, I apply a serum (Estée Lauder Idealist) to my face and then Guerlain Super Aqua Beauty Balm SPF 30, which evens out, hydrates, and protects against the sun. I wash my hair two to three times a week with shampoo and conditioner (currently in the bathroom Andrélon Happy Highlights) and for blow-drying and straightening (CHI straightener, can't live without it!) I use Moroccanoil treatment to combat frizz. And now that I look at my hair, it also needs a makeover with a hair mask, in this case, Redken Blonde Idol Mask.”
5 minutes make-up
“Every day I use BB cream or on top of my moisturizer I apply Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet foundation. On my lashes, Lancôme Hypnose Doll Eyes. I use at least two layers of mascara and I almost daily wear an eyeliner (usually I manage it in one go). Currently, I am using one from Hema and it stays put all day. On my lips a nude color. Three of my favorites are Tom Ford’s lipstick (Nude Vanille), Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick (48 Sentiment), or Givenchy’s lip gloss (Impertinent Nude). As finishing touch I use a blush for a healthy glow: Bronze Powder by Michael Kors.”
Eyebrows or lashes
“For me personally, I prefer not to leave the house without mascara, because then I look sick due to my light lashes. But eyebrows naturally give your face character. I recently had my eyebrows shaped and styled at Soap Treatment Store: The Soap Brow. My eyebrows were threaded with an Anastasia stencil, dyed, and they got a touch-up with Anastasia products. My eyebrows looked à la Cara Delevingne, wow! That reminds me that I need to make an appointment again soon. In the meantime, I keep my eyebrows in check with a Tweezerman.”
Favorite perfume
“My undisputed number one is L’Instant by Guerlain, which after years of use still doesn't get boring. But depending on my mood or occasion, I have at least three signature scents: Coco Noir by Chanel, Miss Dior, and soon available: Narciso by Narciso Rodriguez. All very seductive fragrances. Oh yes, Lalibela by Memo (babassu.nl) and Seven Veils by Byredo (skins.nl) are also irresistibly delicious.”
Favorites role
“For my work as a freelance beauty editor, I am lucky to test a lot of beauty products, sometimes months before they hit the stores. Of course, I have favorite brands that I remain loyal to. Like the powders from Guerlain with the violet scent, addictively delicious! And the beautiful packaging and nice makeup from luxury brands like Dior, Chanel, and Givenchy. It makes me very happy! And every time I enjoy new product launches from new and existing brands and products, expensive or cheap.”
Spa Moment
“I was recently on a press trip with Yves Rocher and stayed at the eco spa hotel in La Gacilly in Brittany. I received a wonderful massage including a foot massage. The surroundings, the ambiance, the tranquility, and the treatment, it was pure enjoyment.”
Red carpet essential
“It sounds very cliché; as long as your hair is good. One of my favorite hairdressers is Louis Amundaray whom I occasionally visit when I go to a special occasion. And then I sometimes switch it up by replacing my eyeliner with a smoky eye and I also love to go all out with a bright lipstick color (sometimes just when I feel like it). I am actually always looking for the best fluo pink lipstick. I can never have enough of it, haha! My three top picks have been M.A.C’s Candy Yum-Yum, Make-Up Studio’s no. 42. And recently in Paris, I found a new addition at & Other Stories: Balt Pink.
Very important: I first apply my lips with a lip pencil in the same color as the lipstick, so I hardly have to look after it, the rest of the day or evening.”
Best purchase
“Clarisonic cleansing brush, a top product! Although I must honestly admit that I haven't found the handy device since my move…. My best beauty purchase is still to come soon: buying a Mason Pearson brush, the Rolls Royce of hairbrushes.”
Never leave home withoutt
“As I said: mascara! And in my toiletry bag, I always have YSL Touché Eclat concealer, a lip gloss, currently that one from Chanel, 191 Songe, and Illuminating cream from Hema. ”
Million Dollar Tip
“A few years ago, I received the tip from MAC’s makeup director Terry Barber to highlight your cheekbones, nose bridge, brow arch, on top of your lip, and on the front of your face and chin to make your face stand out better and give a healthy glow. Another tip is to spray some hairspray on your brush. It gives extra shine and helps combat frizz.”
Biggest style icon
“Brigitte Bardot, style icon par excellence: natural beauty and sex symbol in one. And I am a big fan of Kate Moss's rock’n’roll clothing style. Whatever she wears, it always works, she rocks!”
