Karl Lagerfeld designs two ready-to-wear collections, two couture shows, not to forget the métiers d’arts for CHANEL, his collections that he designs with Sylvia Fendi, and of course his own line KL and the cosmetics line of Choupette. I get tired just writing it down. That the man takes a few days to relax is well deserved. How does he do it? Well, like this.
Casual à la Kaiser Karl
Locatie, locatie
St. Tropez, chérie. He is there for at most a few days, but rents a villa from La Réserve Ramatuelle all year round. It provides his catering and, if desired, closes the spa and gym for him, to stretch in optimal privacy.
Dress code
In summer, Herr Lagerfeld wears white shoes and a cheerful pair of trousers. Furthermore, he is true to his uniform: even at 35° he still wears a high collar and leather gloves. “I love to travel, but hate vacations,” he says. “I prefer to work.” Hence the work attire.
Good to know
Karl can sometimes be seen in full regalia during his lightning visits to St. Tropez on the Pacha III, the yacht of family friend Princess Caroline, where he inadvertently channels ‘Grandpa of Captain Jack Sparrow’ with a fluttering tie.
