LFW DIARY

We are just about 12 hours back from New York when we pack our bags again and board the plane to London. Somewhat crumpled thanks to the jetlag and the limited legroom on the plane, we arrive in a stormy and rainy London, with good spirits to taste as much of LFW as possible in two days.

  • Friday afternoon we set up Amayzine HQ at the Soho Hotel, our mutual favorite hotel. After quite a few hours of typing, we are allowed a glass of wine, cheers to London.
  • That evening we go for dinner at the Pont St. restaurant in the Belgraves Hotel, one of Pippa Middleton's favorite spots. After some cocktails, a bottle of wine, and incredibly delicious food, we head home relatively early, the NY jetlag is still quite noticeable.
  • Saturday morning we start at the showroom of the new shoe brand Malone Souliers. Handmade shoes made of buttery soft leather and with wonderfully high heels – this is how we want to start every day.
  • Then it's time for speed shopping. We succeed at Kenzo (last rack with sale!) and at And Other Stories, where this orange-red dress was snagged.
  • The brand new DvF pumps still need to be broken in and we'll just say it, they hurt like hell so bus stops provide welcome rest.
  • Saturday evening we go with Erica Pelosini and her fiancé Louis Leeman to the Punch Bar of the Edition Hotel. We met Erica and Louis in New York and when they invite us for drinks & dinner, we wholeheartedly say yes. After the Punch Bar, we move on to Berners Tavern for dinner (where the BAFTA afterparty was also held the next day with Brad and Angie), afterwards we take this (somewhat blurry) group photo.
  • After dinner, we descend to the club in the basement of the hotel for the House of Holland party. The bar is free, the music is great, and the people are incredibly friendly. The DvFs have been swapped for loafers so hours of dancing are ahead. After this party, we also went to The Box in Soho , a club at least as notorious as it is famous, with Cara, Kate, and Rihanna regularly on the guest list.
  • The next day we woke up somewhat groggy and after a quick breakfast and some work behind the MacBooks, we head to the Savoy Hotel for the Temperley London show. The hotel, the venue, the people, the clothing, we don't know where to start with the superlatives because everything was so so so beautiful.
  • The newly purchased Kenzo dress with clouds and a hotel like the Savoy is a perfect place to wear a new outfit for the first time.
  • After the show, we armed with a camera, question some models about the show. The girl we spoke to received a phone call halfway through and disappeared, probably on her way to her next show.
  • We leave the Savoy behind and walk to Somerset House, the epicenter of London Fashion Week. We spot all sorts of interesting figures and a lot of peacocks, including this lady with Swarovski eyebrows. You have to come up with that.
  • Two juices at Joe & The. Liesbeth chooses, appropriately, the Hangover Heaven.
  • While Friday was still a lot of drizzle and typically British nasty weather, today the sun is shining and the streets seem to be made of gold.
  • ’In the evening we eat at our London HQ and stay behind the MacBooks to work and go to bed early. Jetlag + party at The Box + long day on our feet = two very tired yet very satisfied editors with a MacBook full of stories.
