Let me start with a confession, we are quite done with Destination Killerbody. The ‘deadline’ of July 1 is getting closer, resulting in us feeling almost ready and everyone knows, the last stretch is the hardest. The dream body we all aimed for is still far from reach and probably won't come, something about discipline and a too great love for food and wine. But so be it, because that was the most important rule: it has to remain fun. And fun it was, and still is. Especially I have undergone quite a change. Until about two months ago, I would roll my eyes furiously whenever someone started talking about quinoa or chia seeds and now I hear myself, while making a smoothie for god's sake, shouting things like: “oh let's add some goji berries.” You see, things can change. The week in points.
– Last Friday and Saturday I was on a press trip with Moët et Chandon to Eperney and the Rolland Garros matches (hello Rafael Nadal). We were incredibly pampered with star dinners, star lunches, and of course more than enough glasses of Moët. Not very Killerbody proof but hey, it's Moët et Chandon! How can one ever say no to that! Not me, definitely not me.
– On Tuesday evening I went out to dinner with my dear friend R. In the spirit of ‘we're going on an adventure!’ we decided to go to a farm in Amsterdam, hidden somewhere deep in Westerpark. They serve what the pot offers and so it happened that I ate pasta for the first time in a long time. I definitely felt that in my stomach, which immediately started grumbling, rumbling, and bubbling. Oops.
– The training sessions went very well this week. We were really into it, didn't wake up too tired, and actually felt like getting to work every day.
– What also helped was that I now brave the training in my sparkling new Lorna Jane pants. Before that, I did it in a pair from H&M and that was quite fine (very ugly though), in those new pants I realize what a really good sports pants actually does for you. It supports a lot, you get less sticky legs from it and I suddenly look extremely sporty Spice and damn slim. Add to that that I also got a really cool blue-green leopard print top and there you have it, a top athlete is born.
– Jet boarded a plane early Thursday morning on her way to Nice. The plans there mainly involve a lot of great food and hours lying on the beach. But, Jet wouldn't be Jet if she didn't also pack her sports clothes and a jump rope. Every morning there will be running, with a jump rope within reach.
– I myself will leave for Paris on Friday evening. Without sports shoes and definitely without a jump rope. I may suddenly be busy with goji berries and whatnot, but you can also go too far. My program mainly revolves around cheese, baguettes, and wine.
- On Wednesday afternoon, Rens Kroes presented her first cookbook, and Jet and I were invited to an intimate lunch where we could taste the first dishes. Normally, I have a brotherly dislike for cookbooks but while flipping through this book, I really wanted to make a lot of things. The recipes are delicious, of course very healthy, and also quite easy to make. Now I am seriously looking forward to making them myself, what has happened to me?!
– On to next week!
