DIVINE DIANE
This year, it's been forty years since Diane von Furstenberg designed a dress that is always accompanied by the adjective ‘iconic’. The iconic wrap dress. A rather bold term, but when a dress has been sold four million times (and counting), we can't help but hear a clarion call.
A very down to earth product, Diane calls it, suitable for every woman. “Young, old, thin, full, rich, not so rich. This dress was like a uniform for all women. I would bump into 20 or 30 wrap dresses whenever I took a walk around a New York block, which made me feel a-ma-zing.”
It fits DvF to write history with especially this design. If there's someone who wants to be a friend of all women with her designs, it must be Diane. The fabrics (especially jersey from which wrap dresses are made) are soft and the design makes sure you look thinner, longer, prettier, younger, better, and more desirable. “I want my clothes to feel like a friend when you wake up after a short night. I always say so to my design team: DvF is mostly a friend.” A friend with a lot of besties because who doesn't own a DvF? And you know what might be the most fun USP of the wrap dress? Diane designed it without a zipper so that it was able to leave a hotel room in the early hours of the morning without waking up the man that was still asleep next to you. With this, my Divine Diane has somewhat become a Dirty Diane.
