Do the Burberry

But how? But how?

Licking our lips and drooling, we all stood around the Burberry scarf that pushed the winter coat around the corner. Such a cape scarf becomes even more fun with a belt around it. But then you have to keep these rules in mind.

1. Don't make it too thick

If your scarf is made of very thick material, you will never achieve a waist and you'll get a bulky effect. Cotton or silk are of course the thinnest, they work best over a blazer or a lambswool sweater. Personally, I find the wool capes nice, but you can also choose for the thinnest (and most flexible) version.

 2. Respect the waist

Don't try to be a bit creative here. You'll thank me for warning you not to hang the belt on your hips. Not a pretty sight. And that empire waist works well with an evening dress, but here? Just look in the mirror and you'll see what I mean.

3. Use a thin belt

The thicker the material, the wider the belt should be. With a chunky knitted cardigan, a thin belt disappears. But since we are choosing somewhat pliable material here, I recommend a slender belt. Preferably nicely tied or another nice piece that is more of a jewelry than a leather strap. Peggy has a belt from Céline made of gold-colored rings and I'm still happy with mine from Club Monaco.

4. Know when to stop

A good blanket/scarf ends above the knee. If it doesn't, fold it up until it falls above the knee. Otherwise, you get a bit too much of a sleeping bag effect and it doesn't hang as nicely.

 5. Look at the end

Nice if the hem of the scarf has an accent, a fringe is of course very festive and cheerful.

6. Layering is fun

Don't be afraid of too much. It's nice if you wear a blouse with a sweater over it, a blazer, and then drape the scarf over it. Super city look.

7. Over the shoulder

Is your scarf very wide? No worries, pull it over your shoulders for even more of a coat blanket idea. And otherwise, Liesbeth has some tips for you.
