Curious about what the life of an editor-in-chief looks like? May-Britt takes you behind the scenes of her life.
The week started with a small kidnapping. I had been secretly working on a Secret Project for a few days. Namely; a new office. Since no one is happy about a dead sparrow, I wanted to have everything nailed down (figuratively speaking) before I would announce it. Our neighboring building had become available and that is too good to be true. To tease the curious editors a bit, they took a seat in my car with a jacket over their heads. I drove two blocks around our complex, parked the car, and removed the blindfold in our new place. If you want to see how everyone reacted wildly, click here. From now on, we also want to work on weekends and at night.
Icebucketchallenge, such a word that you had never heard of a week ago and now everyone was caught up in it. Liesbeth wrote a rather strong piece about it because she suspected some famous types were using the wet T-shirt event mainly for a bit of personal PR. That’s all fine of course, but money also needs to be raised. Ultimately, it was about raising money for ALS, remember?
When I was then nominated by Daphne Deckers (who of course first transferred a good amount and then poured a bucket of ice water over her blonde hair) we had a bit of A Situation. What to do? The video of Charlie Sheen pouring a bucket with ten thousand dollars over himself was the solution. I drove to the bank, exchanged 100 euros for coins of 20 cents, and let this money rain over my head. After all, clinking coins help more than water.
My friend Micha Emmering has been running her own modeling agency Micha Models for years. I remember when she started. Always enthusiastic and sparkling. She has grown into one of the agencies with the most beautiful girls. Prada, Gucci, Valentino, name it and her girls do the campaigns. We had a latte and an hour to catch up. And to make plans for New York. I’m staying in the 25st and she in the 34st street. Almost neighbors then. Looking forward to it.
It was free shipping at netaporter.com and that had to be celebrated. I did some online window shopping (throwing everything in your cart without pressing ‘purchase’) but then I suddenly got this lovely necklace from Isabel Marant.
