Amayzine

Always curious about what the life of an editor-in-chief looks like? I'll take you through my week. As I write this, there is a three-quarters empty bottle of Ruinart Blanc de Blancs, the best champagne out there, to my left. I'm drinking it with my love because I'm flying to New York tomorrow. While I type this, Solomon Grey is playing.

Monday

The first day in our new office. We moved on Sunday, under the critical eye of my daughters whom I had happily brought along for the occasion. With a flutter, I drive to the office; it’s so beautiful that working becomes even more festive. The only downside is that our Jet is on vacation. Well-deserved and all, but we miss her instantly.

Tuesday

At 09:30, the HNTM team gathers in front of the revolving door of Endemol. As I walk in and see Dirk Kikstra, editor Riena, and executive Femke standing there, I almost feel like I'm back in New York. We are meeting about the shoot we will be doing soon with the four remaining finalists. And there is cake because the viewing figures were so fantastic. In the afternoon, we have a drink because the viewing figures of Holland’s Next Topmodel were so good and the numbers from Amayzine.com are through the roof.

Wednesday

Quite a chill day at the office. It’s not always glamour on the left and vavavoom on the right.

Thursday

I had an interview scheduled with Marit Simons, founder of Code management. Aka the discoverer of Imaan Hamam aka the hottest model of the moment. But guess what? My trusty Range Rover won’t start. I call roadside assistance and, with sadness, reschedule my appointment with Marit. Could my loyal beast feel that I’m secretly starting to fall a little bit in love with that new Renault Twingo? For the difference in fuel costs and road tax, I could become really good friends with the guys from Proenza Schouler, Victoria, or the girls from The Row.

Friday

The alarm goes off early. New York Fashion Week is on the menu. After an extreme shoe battle, it’s my five-year-old daughter who brings order to the shoe chaos. Prada, Dior, and Jimmy Choo can come along. The rest stays home. Ballast. Okay. I listen humbly.

Off to Schiphol. To Peggy and Liesbeth. And a thousand adventures.

Have a lovely weekend,

May
