Tribute to Tom

Rihanna's boldly spoken gown at the CFDA awards (think a sheer piece of fabric and 216,000 Swarovski diamonds) stole all the attention from the other winners. But hey, Tom Ford was handed a lifetime achievement award. A day later than planned, I still roll out the carpet for the great Tom and line up all his footprints in the fashion world.

1. The G in pubic hair

Tom is not shy about a touch of sex. To wake Gucci up again, he hired Carine Roitfeld for the styling of the campaigns. The result, the iconic G, appeared in ice cube shapes and in this model's underwear.

2. Estée Lauder Youth Dew Amber Nude

After his departure from Gucci, Tom became creative director at Estée Lauder. His first act was to relaunch Estée's very first perfume, Youth Dew. When Saks Fifth Avenue refused to sell the perfume, Estée dropped a bottle on the floor and walked away. All the customers asked where they could buy that amazing scent, and that same evening, the director of Saks was still eagerly on the line. The scent reminded Tom of his mother and had to be back on the map. A bow around it and done. Greatness often lies in small things.

3. Sunglasses

If I have to thank Tom for anything, it's his sunglasses. Ultra-comfortable and once again so sexy.

4. Botox for men

Finally someone who doesn't make it a secret, or should I say didn't. After the arrival of son Jack, Tom has no more time for Botox. Moreover, the need to look younger is also gone. One of the many side effects of baby Jack. “He has damaged my ambition. Or at least minimized it. I still want to be a successful designer, but it's no longer the most important thing. That just can't be anymore when you're a father.”

5. Ombre de Hyacinth

This perfume grabbed me at Jeffreys, that amazing multibrand store in the meatpacking district in New York. Since then, I've been in love. It's quite pricey, but then you also have Tom's private collection.

6. A Single Man

Then Tom decided to try it in Hollywood. As a director. Why? Everyone thought so. Does he think he can do everything? Yes. He. Can. Directing, outfits, music (Abel Korzeniowski), visuals, and visually stunning. The tidy drawers are my blueprint for the perfect closet.

All well and good, Tom, but I hope Jack and this Award don't make you sit botox-free somewhere in a playground. You're still too important in our lives for that. This footprint list must reach at least 25. Only then can you take a breather. Understood? Understood.
