ALL ABOUT ISABEL
A pair of pants, a skirt, a sweater, a jacket, two pairs of boots, repair three pairs of boots and earrings. Voicì, the presence of Isabel Marant in my closet. By the way, I also forgot to mention the black kimono that I bought last weekend at Graanmarkt 13 in Antwerp. In fashion, there is a designer who can charm all layers, from Sylvie to Halina, and that is our very own Isabel.
It's cool, classy, fashionable but not too much, understated yet pronounced. It simply has that Parisian left bank feeling that is very difficult to capture in a style. And Isabel just has it. Tomorrow evening, AVRO will broadcast a Close Up entirely dedicated to the queen of casual chic. Loïc Prigent (the man who also made those wonderful documentaries about Chanel and Gaultier) followed Isabel in the lead-up to her spring summer show 2012.

In The Day Before – Isabel Marant, we meet a designer who, literally, is double stressed. Back pain makes it impossible for her to move normally. This fashion show is certainly not her first, but with the exploding success of the Marant label, more and more is at stake. This time it is extra exciting because the fashion show falls exactly between the fashion shows of Dior and Lanvin, and there is a dire shortage of models. Also tricky: the enormous, coarsely knitted sweaters and dresses made by a knitting artist turn out at the last moment not to be to Marant's liking. Will the designer be able to satisfy the attending press on the big day with a collection that gives a new twist to her so characteristic and beloved style?
I can tell you that in real life, everything has turned out quite well for Isabel. It was about the show with the fringe boots that we all still wear with love. I am really looking forward to an hour of Isabel before going to sleep. If that doesn't lead to golden dreams afterwards...
