FREEZING FAT? VAMPIRE FACELIFT OR A NEW FLAMOUS?

Trends come in all shapes and sizes, especially when it comes to beauty. Over the years, clear movements have been visible in plastic surgery and other cosmetic procedures. So here we go. These are the biggest trends for the new year.

KIDNEY IMPLANTS

Since 2010, requests for chin implants have doubled, and in 2014 this procedure promises to be in high demand, as more chin would add definition and create a better balance in the face. It was recently revealed that the iconic movie star Marilyn Monroe also underwent this procedure back in the day.

‘DESIGNER VAGINAS’

The so-called intimate treatments are also becoming increasingly popular. Procedures that involve reducing the inner labia or making the vagina ‘tighter’ are the most common in this genre. The latter is especially popular among women after childbirth.

BREASTS

Adjustments to breasts – whether they need to be larger, smaller, or firmer – have always been, and will continue to be, among the most popular cosmetic procedures. The number of women wanting an improvement in their breast area is also increasing every year.

Of course, not everyone has the desire to go under the knife for a more beautiful appearance, and now that the range of non-surgical cosmetic procedures is expanding further, the demand for them is also increasing significantly. We asked cosmetic doctor Annebeth Kroeskop about the treatments that will be popular this year.

CRYOLIPO

Cryolipo is a treatment where body fat is frozen, causing it to die off and be eliminated by the body. The treatment is applied locally and is therefore ideal for liefdeshandvatten, that little fat roll on the belly or those flabby upper arms that you can't get rid of even with exercise and a lean diet. You need to undergo the treatment 3 times per zone, and then the fat cells are permanently destroyed. One treatment costs 200 euros.

VAMPIRE FACELIFT

PRP treatments, also known as the vampire facelift, are becoming incredibly popular. We can probably all still remember Kim Kardashian undergoing a rather bloody facial treatment in Keeping Up With The Kardashians and this was indeed a PRP treatment. PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. In this treatment, blood is drawn, and this blood is centrifuged, removing the red and white blood cells, leaving plasma. This plasma is then injected back into the skin, supporting the skin's natural healing and stimulating collagen production. PRP treatments come in many variations and are therefore very versatile. It is recommended to undergo a course of three treatments with intervals of a month. After that, you should repeat it every year. One treatment costs about 540 euros.

BOTOX FOR MIGRAINE

In this last procedure, becoming more beautiful is merely a side effect of the actual goal, which is to combat migraines. It was discovered by chance in the US that people with migraines who received Botox injections suddenly had no complaints anymore. How it works exactly is not entirely clear, but what has been established is that when Botox is injected into specific spots in the migraine patient, they experience 75% less trouble with migraine attacks. Botox has recently been officially recognized as an FDA approved treatment for those hellish headaches. A great additional benefit is that it also smooths out that deep furrow between the eyebrows.
