Esther Louise Dorhout Mees

GO SEE THAT

Every now and then, a pearl crosses your path with such an international approach that you can hardly believe that the designer is ‘just’ Dutch and that the video was filmed in Utrechtsedwarsstraat. Esther Dorhout Mees is the name, fashionable art her fame.

Her label Dorhout Mees was founded in 2010 by the Dutch designer Esther Louise Dorhout Mees. After studying at ArtEZ Academy of Fine Arts in Arnhem, she worked as a designer for established labels such as Bruuns Bazaar and Tommy Hilfiger until she felt she had to start her own label.

Dorhout Mees is elegant and stylish with a touch of nonchalance. It is feminine and conceptual, but wearability is always an important element. Each collection from Dorhout Mees is based on three different components: High Fashion, prêt a porter, and basics with a twist.

On Sunday, she will showcase her collection in the Gashouder, but tonight (and that’s where you come in), from 10:30 PM to 12:30 AM, she presents her Belle Epoque collection at the Concertgebouw. It is free and accessible to everyone. It will be accompanied by classical music and poetry. A cultural total package, so you can just pop in.

The show on Sunday is for the fashion people, but amayzine.com is giving away two tickets. Like and share us on Facebook and who knows, you might be sitting there in a nice seat.

To get in the mood, here’s a video of her work.
