HIGH ON GUCCI

One of the important reasons for my visit to Milan was the Gucci show. Of course. Tom Ford gave the house back its allure, but Frida Gianini really only makes items that I want to wear. From the label with the iconic horsebit to the fabrics and her silhouette, it is just incredibly me. Moreover, Frida and I share a love for the same type of pasta (number 5 from Barilla) and I am in love with the Gianicolo hill in Rome where she lives. When I heard from press lady Ilaria yesterday that Frida always just takes the staff elevator and not the fancy one for guests, I found her possibly even more endearing. In Milan, the hospitality of the shows is palpable. At Marni (Consuelo Marni always shows on Sunday morning), a walking breakfast is always served before the show, and at Gucci, the champagne was already sparkling in the glasses. The press dripped in; making a smashing entrance was not on the agenda today. It was raining way too hard for that.

“Glamour at its purest,” said Frida

But enough about the entourage. The show, that's what it's about. Rachel Geerman took care of the hair, under the direction of Luigi Murenu and many colleagues, of course. I want that hair. Period. Medium length, a long lock, and everything casually finished with hairspray pushed back. The makeup was sexy, a defined, smoky eye and a pale lip. Leave it to the great Pat McGrath to create a good look
Dutch pride Bette Franke is très Gucci and naturally walked the show.

For this fall/winter collection, Frida Gianini needed to express the essence of Gucci. She longed for precision, a clear silhouette with precious materials, and a new color palette. “I want to portray a sophisticated woman who dresses rather for herself than others,” said Frida.

Through the hairstyle, eye makeup, and the oversized coats in soft pastels, the collection evoked a wonderfully sexy sixties feeling. The must-have glasses, the snakeskin boots, the oversized coats with wide back belts for a nice accent on the waist cannot be missed. The sharply tailored trousers (also in snakeskin print) combined with an A-line dress… Amazing. The Jackie bag was released in beautiful calf leather, python, and croco. If you ask Frida, you wear the bag by putting your arm down through the handle and holding it with your hand at the bottom.

“Glamour at its purest,” said Frida. We can only agree with that. Amen.
