How Instagram shows you your Christmas dinner

“Okay, so you’re just addicted,” a friend said to me recently after I checked my Instagram for the sixth time in an hour. Ahem. I still don’t want to admit it, but there are people who see me with my nose behind my phone almost more often than they see me looking at them. my Instagram Well, that’s a bit exaggerated, but it’s quite extreme.

I Instagram preferably food. Then I don’t have to worry about whether I look good in it, and eating and drinking is simply my favorite thing to do.

In the coming days, my feed (I mainly follow food lovers and healthy chicks) will be flooded with the most beautiful Christmas dinner dishes and tables. If you’re also planning to post a little photo online, then this tremendous addict professional Instagrammer has tips for posting the best Christmas dinner photos. Here they come:

– The ideal photo is taken in daylight, but I understand that this is not possible in the evening. Then you should especially do it with candlelight. That makes the image very warm, but do (only for the photo) turn on an extra light.

– Do not use filters. It only makes it less beautiful and grainy, and you don’t want that, especially if it’s dark in the room.

– What I usually do is hover above the plate and take a photo from above. Then you don’t have too much distraction in the background.

– Make sure everything on the plate is recognizable. A bit of red cabbage or a brown sauce can quickly look like vomit or something. Sorry. Also, a chunk of meat often just looks like a dark spot. Photograph it a bit diagonally from above, then you can see that it’s a piece of meat. Just make sure that everything behind the plate is nice to see. A glass of wine, for example.

– Try not to put too much around a plate, it becomes a mess and ultimately an unclear photo. A lobster or turkey alone is much prettier. And be careful with that cranberry sauce, it looks just like a puddle of blood. Sorry.

– Color contrasts work very well. A white plate on a red table, for example. And green vegetables next to a piece of pink salmon. White fish on a white plate is therefore not a success. So play a bit with different colors.

– Okay, now we’re going to talk about a photo you want to take of the whole table and all the people sitting at it. That’s a difficult one, but extra cozy of course. I received a selfie stick from Santa here at the Amayzine editorial office. Yep, one of those long sticks where you click your phone on one end and with the self-timer (for iPhone 5, that’s an app you need to download and for iPhone 6 it’s already in the camera itself) you can take enormous fun selfies. Or ussies (selfies with multiple people). You sit at the head of the table, extend that stick all the way out, and hold the camera diagonally above you. Make sure everyone is in the shot and done is Kees.

– Before you take a photo, it’s polite to remove the packs of cigarettes from the table, ashtrays, and any crumpled napkins.

Alright, now you can move ahead, right? I’m curious how it’s all going to look and I’ll do my best too. Merry Christmas!
