STYLE ICON
– Jimmy Choo –
I really understand that Jimmy Choo immediately evokes the image of high-heeled shoes for you. Still, the choice is nicely within my section Style Icon, so I chose the perfume. At least as beautiful and just as seductive. Although Jimmy Choo has officially existed as a fashion brand since 1996, the fragrance has only been around since 2011.
Jimmy Choo is known for luxury, glamour, sex, and particularly good Italian craftsmanship, so all of that had to come through in the fragrance as well. Perfumer Olivier Polge took on this assignment. Not the least, as the son of Jacques Polge, the house perfumer of CHANEL, he had a reputation and family name to uphold. Meanwhile, Jacques Polge is happily retired and Olivier has taken over his work at CHANEL, but that's beside the point.
The fragrance is certainly successful. It was announced as a “dazzling aura of glittering femininity.” Dedicated to all strong women full of confidence, who go through life with a lot of fun. Quite impressive how that idea can be captured in a bottle, but Olivier succeeded. A light and fresh perfume that is slightly heavier at the base due to exotic tiger orchid and wood. Sounds heavy and intense, but after a few minutes the floral scent comes forward a bit more and it all becomes a bit powdery. A beautiful scent to wear during the day as well. A few more sprays and it is a delightful evening scent.
All of this is in a beautiful bottle inspired by colored Murano glass from Venice. This brings back the Italian roots. The box is inspired by a pump from Jimmy Choo with a crocodile print. With such a bottle and refined scent, the circle of Italy and craftsmanship is thus completely closed.
