Really not that you have to follow a die hard juice cleanse to properly detox your body. Don't underestimate a real detox. You need to make time for it (dinner parties and Friday afternoon drinks are not an option) and you might feel a bit weak from time to time.
I prefer to do a detox twice a year. I prepare for it. Empty schedule, no eating appointments. I find it best to just keep working. That also provides distraction. Cleansing my body gives a wonderful feeling. Your skin glows, you feel more energetic, and you fit better in your skin. But you can also create a mini detox for yourself where you can still eat. It's really not bad to eat very pure for a few days sometimes. Your body will appreciate it. Now I just need to get rid of my cigarettes.
I give you seven foods that have a cleansing effect on your body. Eat this for three days. Combine them in salads, smoothies, or as snacks and you will feel the results immediately.
Asparagus
I like them best briefly boiled or grilled. You can also eat them raw. This reduces bloating in your stomach. Green asparagus detoxifies your liver (very good after an evening with a lot of wine).
Avocado
I eat at least one a day. Delicious in a salad or smoothie. Avocados contain good fats and this fruit is incredibly filling. It lowers blood pressure, stabilizes blood sugar (very good in combination with fruit, which often contains quite a bit of sugar), and gives your immune system a boost.
Raw nuts
I prefer to make my own nut mix. Many nuts you buy in the store have added sugars or are roasted or smoked. Mix hazelnuts, almonds, walnuts with goji berries, cranberries, mulberries, and some hemp seeds. You can buy all of that in the health food store and make sure it's all unprocessed (just check the packaging, but if you buy it in a health store, you're good). They are each a source of good unsaturated fats and vitamins and minerals like calcium, potassium, phosphorus, and vitamins E and B. Moreover, this superfood has anti-inflammatory properties.
Sprouts
For a container of sprouts (which you can really use for three days), you only pay a few euros. Alfalfa sprouts, radish sprouts, or bean sprouts are delicious in your salad or on a rice cake with avocado or nut butter, for example. Sprouts are rich in antioxidants, strengthen your immune system, and are good for your digestion. Really, sprouts it is.
Apples
And preferably granny smith, which contain the least sugar. Eating them also reduces your appetite. They also have a detoxifying effect.
Green tea
Make sure to choose the organic variant, even better from the health food store. It contains many antioxidants which have a detoxifying effect on your liver.
Wheatgrass
A shot every now and then is really a boost for your body. Most juice bars serve it. You can also order it frozen online for home, but I prefer it fresh. It's packed with vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and antioxidants. A perfect detox for your body. One shot of wheatgrass is equivalent to a kilo of fresh green vegetables. Well, you can quickly get that in.
Oh yes, drink liters of water and occasionally take a sauna or do a sport where you sweat a lot. This way, those toxic substances leave the body easily.
