Hello, welcome!
A month ago, I hosted a housewarming dinner for about 22 people. Dates were mandatory and the dress code was easy chic. A long table in my garden, white linen, lots of candlelight, lanterns in the trees, and I served Fruits de Mer followed by a large piece of meat with salads from my favorite cookbook by Ottolenghi. For the welcome drink, I stocked up on quite a few bottles of Veuve Clicquot, an expensive joke. , it's the dumbest thing that exists, but start at the beginning. Are you cleaning your house?, but during these kinds of parties, my hospitality heart comes to the surface. I spend the whole day in the kitchen, my guests are kings, and I want the best meat and the tastiest wine.
Josselin gave you tips on how to dress up the table in a simple way. I also have an earlier post with delicious dishes that are easy to make, and today I will give advice on welcome drinks. Especially at a housewarming (where not everyone knew each other), it is both festive and nice to have something in your glass that makes you a bit looser and less shy.
If you are hosting a drink, housewarming, dinner, or just a party because there is always a reason to throw a party, then I have some nice welcome drinks for you.
Buy a nice bottle of prosecco and a bottle of Crème de Cassis. You can often find this in larger supermarkets or at the liquor store. A small drop of Crème de Cassis at the bottom of a champagne glass and then top it off with prosecco. You can also add a blue or red berry for color and festivity.
Definitely super trendy at the moment, but not just that. I find it very tasty, it whets your appetite a bit (good if you are going to sit at the table afterwards), and after one glass, you are immediately a bit looser (well, at least I am).
My favorite is Hendricks Gin with Fever Tree tonic and cucumber.
Buy nice, large glasses. Cut slices or strips of cucumber and put them in the glass along with ice cubes. A small splash of Gin (it can also be a large one, whatever you want) and then pour in the tonic until just below the rim of the glass.
Pureed peach with prosecco. It is quite difficult to score really good ripe peaches here in the Netherlands, but that is the tastiest. Otherwise, you can also use canned peaches. Blend them and put a little at the bottom of a champagne glass. Pour prosecco over it.
With this drink, you can fill a whole carafe or put it in a large bowl. Spoon it in and that way you serve everyone a glass. What do you need and how do you make it (this is for 1 glass):
1 piece of fresh watermelon, cut into small cubes
juice of 1 ½ limes
60 ml Bacardi Superior rum
prosecco
crushed ice
peel of ½ lime
10 ml ginger syrup
Very simple, mix everything together and you're done.
