High End Down Under
THE MILLION DOLLAR LOOKS OF KATE MIDDLETON
The big trip Down Under has begun. Kate, William, George, and his kangaroo backpack have arrived in New Zealand. Kate made another masterstroke by subtly and charmingly referencing her late mother-in-law Lady Di with her arrival look. When she first visited New Zealand, Lady Di wore a red, double-breasted ensemble with a small red pillbox hat. Upon stepping out, she did a little Marilyn Monroe (just look at the blowing skirt) and a little Lady Di at the same time. Her outfit not only resembles Diana's look quite a bit, but it is also made by the house of Catherine Walker, the label that Princess Diana was also a big fan of.
On the orders of her mother-in-law Queen Elizabeth, Kate did not pack any high street brands. It's all about couture. Think Temperley, Alexander McQueen. The latest order is said to have been a robe from the label Ralph & Russo. A London-based label founded by the Australian couple Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo in 2007.
With the fusion of Australia and London, this label fits perfectly into the palette of outfits that Kate has assembled for this trip. Moreover, she is in good company with fans. Angelina Jolie, Beyoncé, and many princesses from the Middle East love to wave their credit cards in the Ralph & Russo boutique. It must be so because a little dress starts at 50,000 pounds. Considering that Kate had to make do with a modest 35,000 pounds for a whole year in 2013 from her father-in-law Prince Charles, this is quite an improvement. The queen will be proud of her. And so will I.
