MODE WEEK SAMENVATTING

Four amayzine editors, eight eyes and an overflowing fashion menu. Together we can cover every show that matters and update you right away, of course. Can you talk about it as if you were there too?.

Saturday

Lacoste

With Lacoste, the Amayzine team kicked off this fashion week. When you say Lacoste, you say sport, and in this show, many influences from golf were recognizable. Accompanied by loud music with beats that you felt vibrating in your toes, the models walked down the runway in nice pieces that we immediately wanted to see hanging in our own closet. Oversized sweaters with graphic prints worn over feminine bell skirts and tough ankle boots with pointed toes and laces, for example. But also ankle-length silk column dresses in pristine white, short skirts made of mohair, and quite a few sweaters with text prints. The hair was long, straight, and natural, which made the whole look sporty, chic, and wearable.

Tibi

If there is one brand that all the trendy girls run away with (and in), it is Tibi. Olivia Palermo and Leandra Medine (from The Man Repeller) are at least big fans and of course sat front row when the new collection was presented last Saturday. That collection consisted of nice, wearable, and cuddly oversized pieces with a special cut and made from warm fabrics in fresh colors like baby blue, bright red, neutral gray, and of course fashion black. Cool, desirable, feminine, and tough, the show was Tibi in every way.

Alexander Wang

The fashion journalists had been in a light form of panic for days, or rather, weeks, because model darling Wang decided to present his collection in Brooklyn. Brooklyn is to New Yorkers what Amsterdam-Noord is to Amsterdammers – just not an option. But Wang is Wang is Wang, and so it happened that all the Manhattan princesses risked their lives during the journey to Brooklyn. There was a lot of flirting with outdoor sports like mountain climbing and hunting in the show, resulting in a conceptual collection with many chunky knitted sweaters, robust jackets, and sturdy tough boots. All with the typical cool and oh-so-fashionable Wang sauce, of course. After the show, Instagram was flooded with #escapefrombrooklyn, because thanks to a snowstorm, it took about 2.5 hours before everyone was safely back on the island. Oh the things you do for Wang.

Sunday

Victoria Beckham

At a show by Victoria Beckham, two things are important. 1) The collection and 2) David and Harper in the front row. This season it was a real treat with all the Beckham kids in the front row, giving Vic the best front row of the season. Then the clothes. While the collection last season may have been a bit too angular and rough, this time femininity played a big role. Of course, still the signature look with oversized pieces made from luxurious and rich-looking materials, but then in a slightly longer length and with more focus on the waist. Among all the black and white, we also saw pieces with prints in bright colors (color!!) that gave the clean looks a whole new twist.

Derek Lam

If there is anyone who knows how to translate the comfort of sportswear into a stylish and fashionable alternative, it is Derek Lam. Soft cuddly materials with striking texture in boxy oversized models with a prominent role for color – the opening look with a mustard-colored skirt and old pink jacket was a good indication of what was to come. If it were up to Lam, the trend of oversized jackets would stubbornly continue, and if that can be done in a jacket of his design, we would love to be part of it.

Diane von Furstenberg

Diane's show is always a party, not only on the catwalk but also at the entrance of the venue where the show takes place. Whole packs of photographers, bloggers, fans, and other fashion people gather there to catch a glimpse of, oh, name someone, Anna Wintour, the Hilton sisters, Olivia Palermo, Chiara Ferragni, and Tommy Hilfiger. Inside, the party continued with Karen Elson opening the show followed by Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls, Sasha Luss, Jourdan Dunn, and Dutch pride Bette Franke. The wrap dress was central, the dress with which Diane gained fame and eternal glory and which celebrates its fortieth birthday this year. Colorful prints, elegant dresses, many smiling models, and a finale clad in golden dresses that Diane had specially made for the models resulted in a cheerful fashion crowd leaving the hall despite having to wait a long time for the elevator and being greeted by a snowstorm upon exiting.

Monday

Elke week word ik ingedeeld om twee

If you primarily think of Tommy Hilfiger as preppy clothing with lots of upright collars and American prep, that is quite understandable, but no longer necessary. For this autumn, he showed a collection with an incredibly high must-have factor thanks to the cheerful chunky knitted hats, oversized ponchos, parkas with lamb lining, and very, very, very many checks. Doctor Peggy already predicted it, the check is hot. Furthermore, we saw baggy jeans with red bouclé jackets, sweaters with Norwegian patterns, warm-looking fabrics, and again many oversized pieces.
