Hope gives life

Saturday evening 20:00, a sultry summer evening in Paris, in the nicest neighborhood of the city Le Marais. After a delicious typical French dinner on a typical French terrace Jet and I walk to the address on our invitation. We are on our way to the show of Hope, the Swedish fashion label of designer and co-founder Ann Ringstrand. That show will take place in Espace Commines, the same location where Alexander Wang presented his collection for H&M. Among the guests are many Dutch press (Cécile Narinx, Esther Coppoolse, Hilmer Mulder), bloggers (Sabrina Meijer from aftrdrk.com, Andy Torres from StyleScrapbook.com, our friend Noor from queenofjetlags.com) and furthermore a lot of stylishly dressed people.

The dress code is black. Or at least, it seems so. Black with white sneakers. Once we have all had a glass of champagne and exchanged some hi’s and hello’s, we are asked to take our seats because the show is about to begin. When the first girl walks by, it is confirmed once again, we all have to throw our heels out the window because at Hope only flat footwear. Furthermore, we see many striking graphic patterns inspired by the work of Swedish textile designer Märta Måås-Fjetterström (10 points for anyone who can pronounce this name correctly). The collection has a 70’s vibe and that is not only due to the A-line silhouettes but also (and especially) because of the material use; many heavy thick fabrics and many prints from dots to checks. My personal favorite was the last look, an ankle-length black coat with the typical print. It can go straight into my cart.

Want to see the show again? From the first to the last look, you can watch it all back. And we are giving out more points, this time to those who spot where Jet and I are sitting. Happy spotting!
