WHO IS THE BEST/LARGEST/COOLEST?
One person (like me) loves New York, another swears by Milan, and the true fashionista can't live without her biannual dose of Paris. Taste can be debated, but numbers don't lie. So I lined up the facts and what do you see, my favorite won.
New York
Duration: 8 days
Number of Shows: 277
(yes really, but that's not entirely fair because in New York, the men's and women's shows are held at the same time, so you should actually divide it by 2. Since I'm quite biased, I won't do that.)
Number of people who could secure a spot: 110,000 (that's what's so nice about New York, even if you're not named Anna Wintour, there's always a spot to be found for you. Maybe at a hopeless label, but hey, a seat is a seat.)
London
Duration: 5 days
Number of shows: 82
(But there are a few really cool ones like Temperley, Burberry Prorsum, Mary Katranzou, Mulberry, Tom Ford, and Topshop)
Number of seats: 5000 Fighting for your spot then
Milan
Duration: 6 days
Number of Shows: 137
The shows in Milan are of course grand. Dolce&Gabbana, Marni, Moschino, Emilio Pucci, Giorgio Armani, Prada, Gucci, MaxMara. Just a moment... For the poor souls who didn't get an invite to the show, there's always the resee where you can view and touch the collection.
Number of seats: 10,000 Milanese are warm people. They will always serve a prosecco and a snack and try to let as many people into the show as possible.
Paris
Duration: 9 days
Number of shows: 93
There is fashion above fashion and if you love fashion, you can't ignore Paris. Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Miu Miu, Valentino, Viktor&Rolf, Saint Laurent. The absolute best dessert after a full fashion week menu.
Number of seats: 5000. No invite for the show, tough luck. Just put your foot in the door at the resee location and post for the show venues then.
