There is nothing more beautiful

Let me start at the beginning. When I boarded the ship Marie Claire, Joseph Carle had just disembarked. For years he was the international fashion director and was responsible for all 34 sister titles, especially regarding fashion.

Follow the circus

I met him somewhere in the front row in Milan. Afterwards, we had pasta at the same little place, nothing special but very Italian. “I follow the circus.” He said when I asked him which fashion weeks he was going to and had been to. And “Too much of that.” in response to my question about why he left Marie Claire. He was busy starting up Numéro in China and had an office in Shanghai. Cooler than New York, that was it. Out of respect, I believed him.

Two kisses in the front row

Since then, I always see Joseph Carle somewhere in Milan. Searching for our seats at MaxMara, opposite each other at Marni or at Missoni. Every time I am surprised that he recognizes me again. Not just a nod, no, he walks over to me, kisses (two, yes, two) and asks how I really am. And then usually follows a belittling remark about the crazy fashion world he has been in for so long (Joseph Carle is no longer the youngest).

It rocks and rumbles in Shanghai

It was on Models.com where I came across this series shot by Laura Bartley of Lexi Bolling. For Numéro China. Indeed. It doesn't get more beautiful than this and that it rocks, rumbles, and bubbles in Shanghai, I really believe that now. Go to their site and check out all the beauty. You don't understand a thing, but with series like this, who cares?
