Office essentials:

you should always have this at your office

Last week I went with Josselin and May-Britt to the annual Christmas presentation of Estée Lauder Company. All their brands (Estée, Jo Malone, Aveda, Bobbi Brown, Tom Ford, La Mer, Clinique and many more) showcase their plans for the coming year and all the important people from the magazine world are present. But, I had kind of forgotten and was wearing pretty ugly sneakers that morning, a big sweater, and zero makeup on my face. Quite unfortunate. There I was in my outfit among the Cécile Narinxen and Hilmar Mulders of the world. Now that you are going to be bombarded with Christmas parties and other year-end closures, you better be prepared. So study the list below and make sure you always have this at the office so you are always ready to go.

Black heels

I would have killed for a pair of black high pumps during that Estée presentation. It is my intention to put a pair of black always-good-heels at the office as soon as I am done moving so that I am always ready to show up, even in case of a rough sneaker day I am still prepared to appear somewhere.

Tights

Not only for when you unexpectedly have a party, but also for when you are already wearing tights and accidentally get a run in them 10 minutes before that important meeting with the top of your company.

 Foundation, powder, and mascara

In the morning you didn't have the desire or time for a little makeup but you don't find yourself presentable enough to show up au naturel at your event or meeting? Make sure you always have these three basics in your drawer and you are always ready to go.

Toothbrush and toothpaste

Especially for smokers, or for people who were just a bit too eager with the old crumbly cheese during lunch.

Nail polish remover, cotton pads, and clear polish

My nails often have a layer of chipped polish and I only notice it when I have to appear somewhere nicely, but then there is of course no remover or cotton pad to be found. So not chic. It should always be in your drawer, and a clear polish is always good.

 A nice black dress

Depends on how much space you have at your workplace, but a simple LBD that works for any occasion is very nice to have within reach.

Perfume and deodorant

For a fresh feeling and a fresh scent, you also just feel more confident and therefore better when you know there are no weird odors around you.
