– Meet the model –

MALAIKA FIRTH

One of the many dark-skinned girls who color the catwalks is Malaika Firth. She has cautiously made modeling history by being the first dark-skinned model booked by Prada for a campaign after a period of 19 white years. Her predecessor was Naomi Campbell, but that campaign is quite dusty as it dates back to 1994, the birth year of Malaika.

Her model scout was her own mother, who saw a TV program about a modeling agency and thought; my little girl belongs there. As soon as Malaika stepped over the threshold of the agency, the contract was pretty much pulled out. Her career began with a runway debut during New York Fashion Week and she really became big when she shone in the Prada campaign alongside Christy TurlingtonCatherine McNeilCameron RussellFreja Beha ErichsenFei Fei Sun and Rachel Williams. All of that photographed by Steven Meisel, just saying.

Last November, Malaika became modeling royalty by being booked for the Victoria’s Secret show. During these fashion weeks, she has walked more than forty shows and is featured in campaigns from Valentino, Burberry, Prada.
We can conclude with the statement; Malaika rocks and rules.
