Shopping comfortably with my laptop on my lap is a blessing when I'm specifically looking for a certain item. But, let's be honest, nothing beats viewing and comparing something tangible, right? For that reason, and because I am a bit shopaholic and lazy, I regularly immerse myself in the paradise called department store. With the great advantage that you have a complete reflection of everything available at that moment in a relatively short time. and vogue is.
Voila, this is my list of favorites and of course these are not the only addresses, but these are the addresses that should be at the top of the list for the average fashion follower. to do list.
Sometimes it happens that I go back and forth to Paris in one day for a meeting or press presentation and then the department store Le Bon Marche is a blessing. All the big established names like Dries van Noten, Jil Sander, Stella McCartney, and Isabel Marant can be found spread over two adjacent buildings. The ground floor of the department store is occupied by a super luxury supermarket that you really must not miss. And the ground floor of the adjacent building (also Le Bon Marche) is filled with accessories and cosmetics. And, when you're there, don't forget the lingerie department.
You've probably already read it: The Amayzine Girls are leaving for New York in two weeks for fashion week. And besides looking forward to the shows, I can also already greatly anticipate what's for sale at Barney's. For the best and most extensive collection of shoes, I always go to the department store Bergdorf & Goodman. And don't walk too quickly past the windows because they are often highlights of creativity..
Department stores seem to be a London specialty. Most have cafes and restaurants and are thus the perfect place to recharge your batteries between shopping. Many tourists rush immediately to the famous Harrod's but I personally prefer the adjacent and more modern Harvey Nichols that you probably know from the AbFab series. On the 5the floor, you can have lunch outside in nice weather and you're right on the food department where I always give in to the beautifully packaged pastas or tea tins. A must for every fashion lover is the department store Selfridges which stands out among the commercial chains that Oxford Street is full of. Balenciaga, Dolce & Gabbana, and Stella McCartney; they're all there.
And then there is of course our own good old Bijenkorf which seems to get more fun every season and keeps expanding its brand collection. The shoe department is insane, they have the most beautiful bag brands hanging, and the women's clothing department is filled with the most prestigious brands.
Veel plezier!
