Amayzine's Correspondent Day
Yesterday we had High Visitors here at the Amayzine HQ. As you know, we have been looking for the most fun and best correspondents in the country who will be the ears and eyes of Amayzine from Groningen to Maastricht. Because we all live and work mostly in and around Amsterdam, but the Netherlands is of course bigger. After we posted the call online, my inbox was almost overflowing with all the applications. In total, we received more than 200 emails, and it took quite a while to get through them. In the end, about 30 girls remained, and we invited them yesterday afternoon for a healthy lunch and workshops.
In the middle of our studio, we set up long tables, and Josselin, our Creative Chief, had beautifully laid the tables so well that it was almost a shame to sit down. Upon arrival, the girls received a juice from LiteDark, the coolest juice bar in Amsterdam on Utrechtsestraat. This was of course Jets' contribution; she chose number 230, which contains: cucumber, spinach, apple, mango, and mint. And it must be said, even I found it incredibly delicious.
It was so nice to see all the faces behind the names and emails.
It was so nice to see all the faces behind the names and emails. With some, I had already emailed back and forth several times, and it is always a surprise to see who is behind that name. After the opening words from May and a delicious lunch from ByGusto, we divided the group into two parts. One half went to Josselin and Jet for a workshop on images (which images can you use, what makes a good image) and photography (how to shoot a Look of the Day, which poses work and which do not, how to give someone else good instructions), while the other half stayed with me and May for a writing workshop (how to come up with editorial topics, how to ensure that your pieces are pleasant to read).
In between, we stuffed ourselves with the most delicious cupcakes with real glitter from the Cupcake Boutique, drank liters of mint tea, and subjected the correspondents to a real Amayzine quiz for the camera (the video will be online soon). It was so incredibly fun to meet some of our readers, to see and hear that everyone really reads our pieces (something we sometimes forget ourselves), and to notice that everyone is so excited to write the best pieces for us.
Amayzine is going out into the country, so get ready.
Everyone who lives outside Amsterdam and is always annoyed that our hotspots are often in Amsterdam, your wishes have been heard. Amayzine is going out into the country, so get ready.
