Riri rocks the CFDA awards

Last night, Rihanna was awarded for her high-fashion looks with a CFDA award. With the title Fashion Icon of 2014, she was knighted into the legion of fashion legends. What do you wear in such a case is the question? Not much seems to be the answer.

Now, you shouldn't think too lightly about the styling circus around Rihanna. The head chef is Mel Ottenberg, the man who catapulted her into the higher fashion regions. Rihanna flaunted her cheeky Barbadian curves at just about every frow that matters. Miu Miu, Balmain (of course, because she is the face of it), CHANEL, Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Lancin, Stella McCartney, she appeared everywhere in a fitting outfit.

The clothes are gone

All that hopping from frow to frow ensured that she further solidified her status as a fashion icon but also created a problem. The outfits were gone. Eight men on a dress

Quite a task because the night before the event, eight (!) people worked from eight in the evening until three in the morning to put the finishing touches on the dress. The headband was thought up by Rihanna herself to make it completely Riri.

Mel was happy with it. “It seals the deal.”

When asked if people were shocked by the dress, Mel replied: “I am always around Rihanna so that shock effect is no longer there for me. Yes, it is a somewhat daring dress but hey, what did you expect, a dark blue DvF wrap dress?”
