KATE DRESSES ROYALLY

The tour to New Zealand and Australia is over and alongside the starring role of baby George, it is now time to critically examine Kate's looks. She was tasked by Queen Elizabeth to say goodbye to her high street labels and adopt a more regal look.

Fear of being too prim

Initially, I held my breath. The already somewhat rock ’n roll deprived Kate in more formal outfits did not sound like music to my ears. Goodbye style icon, hello primness. That's what I thought. But Kate has remained Kate. Stronger. She has undergone an incredible style evolution. First of all, a shout-out for the Planning point. Have you ever had to pack your suitcase for three weeks? Well? Throwing a few pairs of jeans and short shirts into a bag for a backpacking trip down under is a different story than gathering a different outfit three times a day knowing that The Whole World is watching you with a magnifying glass. Including me.

Kate prefers UK

Despite all the speculation that Kate would choose many Australian designers, she set her sights on British brands or designers of different origins but who are London-based. Especially her yellow Roksanda Ilincic dress (which William said made her look ‘like a banana’ and which Kate in turn laughed heartily about) and the green coat from Erdem (which William also found ‘too bright’) caused a popping cork and matching giggles in the Mobach household.

Heels in the sand

During a visit to the beach, she ruthlessly combined her cream-colored robe from Zimmerman with nice high wedges from Stuart Weitzman. Not everyone understood the heel-sand combination, but I fully support Kate. Marilyn Monroe already said: ”Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she can conquer the world.” And that is exactly what Kate is doing. She has already got me.

Kate chose:

  • Roksanda Illincic
  • Stuart Weitzman
  • Tory Burch
  • Alexander McQueen
  • Erdem
  • Catherine Walker (that amazing red outfit she arrived in New Zealand with)
