STYLE ICON

Ray-Ban Sunglasses –

I know that summer has been postponed again. Liesbeth gave some tips yesterday for a day of lounging on the couch to kill that time. But I still want to bring the sun into the house and have decided to declare the Ray-Ban sunglasses the style icon of the week. Why? Well, actually because you can always put them on your nose, during a treacherously low sun in winter, or a terrace day this summer. In my opinion, indispensable in your bag.

The model of the glasses, Aviator, became known in 1936 with a design by Ray Ban. That was quite a few years ago. Actually, the search for the glasses started even earlier. During flights, pilots always wore goggles, those swimming glasses, but they fogged up due to the cold at altitude, making it impossible to see anything. And when they wanted to take them off, their eyes would freeze, which was also not really pleasant. The American Air Force therefore requested a pair of sunglasses to be designed for pilots. Tadaa, there it was. The pilot's glasses. Initially sold only as sports equipment for about 25 cents, but during World War II it became a standard part of the outfit for military men. Later, around the 70s, when prices had already gone up a bit due to popularity, colored lenses were added, and they also came onto the market for us women. It took a while, but then you have something. Indispensable in our wardrobe.
