THE SUMMUM

Where I would normally have had to detox from my luxurious Pentecost days (I was indeed in a small beach house but my love really served me as a snack a Duralex glass filled with champagne and a blue plastic container with strawberries) I had no trouble with that now.

On the fashion menu

The first thing on the fashion menu on Tuesday was a gathering organized by clothing brand Summum. I have known this wearable label for the strong, multitasking but certainly also pleasure-seeking woman for a while. The Marie Claire Starters Award and Summum were a perfect match because this is a label that is gladly worn by women with a purpose in life. Women who move forward. And it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg so you can nicely invest that money back into your little business.

May I go to the Waldorf Astoria?

Anyway. Summum then. To keep reinventing themselves, they organized a get-together with the tagline rebirthing the glamour. Without jumping ahead, I can tell you; they succeeded.

The location was the Waldorf Astoria. You can hardly go wrong there. I was picked up by a black car from Uber. How delightful my first sounded; “Can you take me to the Waldorf Astoria, please?”. Out of pure curiosity, the driver asked me what I was going to do at the hotel. I will forgive him his intense indiscretion, he was also a bit thrown off by the name and world fame that has now settled in our Amsterdam.

Lieke, Jetteke, Rens, Do and Quinty

In the salon of the Waldorf, it was immediately a party. First of all, the amazing collection that Jorien Wijker designed together with Simone Dernee, fashion director of Marie Claire. Then a very pleasant crowd. Lieke and Jetteke van Lexmond, singer Do, Vivian Reijs, Quinty Trustfull, the sparkling Rens Kroes (more about her later), Liza Sips, it-girl Sophia Tienstra and web colleague Lonneke Nooteboom.

Wool will be the shizzle

After Simone and Jorien told us about inspiration (Jorien finds it in Italy, Simone during and certainly also before the shows) and what it will be this winter (according to Simone, wool will be totally the shizzle) Remco Verbooij (training manager of Skins Cosmetics) told us everything about scents and why we should have a whole bunch of them. Really, this man is very good for my mood and intensely dangerous for my wallet. Everything he suggests, I want to buy. From Rawa hair perfume to the scents Babel and Odin 01 and Sel Marin from Haely. Everything, everything, everything I want to have.

Golden tip

Another tip I share with you is that you can better spray perfume on the top of your arm than on the inside of your wrist. The hairs distribute the perfume better and you carry the scent longer because you don't transfer it to the table, keyboard or other things where the inside of your arm rests. Logical but I had never thought of it myself.

During the lunch that Rens Kroes and Jonnie Boer had put together (so intensely healthy and divinely delicious) Ellen ten Damme treated us to a small performance. From violin she jumped to piano to guitar. “Do you want another song or is that enough?” delightful, a singer with a pleasant ego. Alright, one more sing-along. ‘I’m afraid of becoming rich and parking the Hummer. I’m so afraid of becoming rich and couture instead of clothes.’

What shall I take?

I let the coffee fortune teller pass me by but people what a delightful afternoon. With an intensely filled goodie bag with prosecco, Powerfoods from Rens Kroes and the delicious Summum catalog, I will settle on the couch tonight. Let’s see which beach looks I will pamper myself with. Then I will be working (shopping=working you remember?) and I will hold on to that long, lazy Pentecost feeling for a little longer.
