If there is anything that Mart Visser cannot do, I still have to discover it.

From couture to the in-demand prêt-à-porter for V&D and now the man suddenly also creates Art. Yes, with a capital A, yes. At this moment, he is quietly preparing an exhibition at the Van der Togt museum on October 17. This summer, the art caravan is heading to The Hamptons and the year will conclude at Art Basel in Miami. Today, his Mart Visser Collection was also nominated for the Vrouw Award from De Telegraaf. What does the weekend bring, Mart? Rest?

Mart, at what moment is the glass of water exchanged for something else and the weekend has begun? Well, indeed busy times but what energy I get from that. I make long days during the busy wedding season and many parties where my haute couture is desired. So, big evenings of socializing are not on the agenda for now. But a good glass of red Bordeaux or vodka is already relaxing enough.

Is it peace and regularity or is the workweek still simmering a bit?

Saturday is often my busiest day, fortunately, we only work with couture by appointment, so it can be managed. Sunday is really a day of rest, so nice painting, or drawing, or maybe just going to the couture studio to work out a beautiful moulage on a dress form.

You have a house in the south of France, a husband, a dog, your couture, your art. You also find time to exercise and always look good. But how, Mart. How? impeccable A golden team around me, and no children, that helps too. How do you do it, Maybritt :-))?

How does Saturday look in the house of Mart Visser?

Often Job picks me up somewhere at the end of the day with the boat, bike on board, dog Harper along and a nice bottle of rosé... You get it.

What is being listened to, read, eaten, and drunk?.

At all my workplaces, in my studio, my atelier in Amsterdam, and in my atelier in France, I can blast music at any time. Whatever I feel like, I play. From Vivaldi to Beyoncé to Handel and Jessie J. Reading, I'm too busy for that. The Parool, De Telegraaf, and the Volkskrant are still manageable. Eating is completely my thing. I love fresh, crisp, fish and long live Marqt.

Is there ever any lounging?.

Oh yes, I have a big old sofa in my painting studio and next to my couture house is the Conservatorium hotel with Akasha, the spa. Sometimes I just go shower for a moment, close my eyes for 10 minutes and I can go all evening again.

You have a clear Mart look. What are your labels?.

Tailor-made shirts from Italy, Blue Blood jeans and Diesel, jackets wherever I find them, from vintage, Corneliani, Bottega Veneta, Hermès and Lanvin, and also Suit Supply and Zara. As for sneakers, I only wear Dior, top quality.

Assuming earthly matters like time difference, jet lag, a packed schedule, and that obligatory drink do not exist. Where were you and what did your weekend look like? You can hop from country to country. You can have breakfast in New York and lunch in St. Tropez.

Over the years, I have seen so much. Just driving through France, past small villages with many antique shops, dog in the back and husband next to me, and the scent of lavender through the open window... Or a weekend in St. Barths, I wouldn't pass that up either.

What is a perfect weekend spot in Amsterdam?.

On the boat through the canal.

Are there still restaurants on the list to be tested?.

There is always a stack of torn-out pages on my desk, but often you still fall back on the good addresses and choose quality and certainty.

Is there a difference for you between Saturday and Sunday?.

A world! Sunday is rest.

What time, finally, does the alarm go off on Monday morning and is the weekend really over?.

Often I am already up around 6:30 and the party starts again. In the morning, I can always get a lot done. Monday is always my V&D collection day, with fittings, collection determination, and more.
