During the opening night of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam, the winners of the second edition of Zalando’s Blogger Awards were announced yesterday. This year, three awards were presented: the Jury Award, the People’s Choice Award, and the Newcomer Award. Our own Liesbeth was on the Jury along with Ellen Snijder, founder of Fashionchick.nl, Rob Zomer, director of Fashion Week Netherlands, and Elseline Tolhoek, fashion editor of Zalando.nl. Yara Michels hosted the evening. The big winner of the night was Linda Tol.
The Westerunie was transformed into a giant circus, there was plenty of drinks, the DJs from Kris Kross were behind the turntables, and the feet were definitely off the floor.
Clair Heerkens, PR manager of Fuse communication, was the hostess of the evening. She, along with Lot, also from Fuse, handled the production and ensured it was such a tremendously fun evening.
You must be a bit tired from last night, what a party!
Indeed, we started setting up at 8 in the morning and I cycled home at 3 in the night. It was an incredibly successful evening. It’s good that the bloggers are put in the spotlight. Very nice of Zalando.
Do you have a bit of a weekend now or are you going full into Fashion Week?
Actually, I already started my weekend a bit today. Finished up the last things from yesterday and did some small tasks. I need to focus on a friend's wedding tonight. I am the master of ceremonies and I can tell you, that is a job. Tomorrow morning I will set up at two locations in Amsterdam and then the next party can begin.
Is your outfit ready? You don’t have to worry about that?
Of course. Two dresses, for during the day and in the evening. My hair will be done and if I want, I can also have some makeup.
Then Sunday will really be a sleep-in day, I think?
Well, we are going to have breakfast with a small group and the newlyweds to discuss the evening. After that, I had football planned, but yeah, that’s not happening anymore. Maybe quietly in the background.
Do you have a good hangover tip?
When my friends see me coming with coconut water, they know it was a hit. So coconut water.
What does your ideal Sunday look like? Anything goes.
I find Sundays in Amsterdam the best. Sleeping in, having breakfast, then doing some sports. Hockey just finished, so I take my racing bike or go for a run. Then in the afternoon, a drink with friends or family and to bed on time. Maybe not very special, but I enjoy those kinds of days the most.
What kind of music is played on the weekend?
Super diverse. I discovered the latest CD from Coldplay and I am a big fan of the Australian band The Cat Empire. I also like to turn on the radio.
What do you have in your glass with this warm weather?
Preferably gin and tonic. I like it best on the terrace of the Harbour Club, that’s where it’s the tastiest.
What time does your alarm clock go off again on Monday?
Pretty reasonable at half past seven.
