Amayzine

When I say Ushi, you naturally say: Wendy van Dijk! If you don't know Wendy as an actress, you know her as a presenter. But now she has also started a platform that consists of a website and a magazine. In short; she can actually do everything. Yesterday we were at the launch of her platform and luckily she had a moment for a small interview with Amayzine.

It's been an exciting week for you! You've been working on it for a long time and now the world can have an opinion about your new platform. How does that feel?
‘’I just hope that the readers will enjoy it as much as we have!’’

You are already very successful as a presenter and actress. So do you think that works positively or negatively?
‘’Well, it's more that I feel like I have something to say. I've always thought ‘later when I'm grown up’, but I'm already grown up now. Now I really want to share my life experiences. And I want to make a change in the world as it is now. That's the goal.’’

How often have you been asked how you distinguish yourself from Linda? She also has her own magazine.
‘’Not at all actually. We are not competitors. Together with Carolien Vader, she is a magazine doctor, we looked at the specific segments where, for example, a Linda or a Happinez or another magazine is. And the place where we are in the market is almost non-existent. So I think we are not in each other's way at all.’’

Tomorrow the weekend begins. For many people, that starts with a glass of wine on the couch, but you are going to present The Voice of Holland.
‘’Yes, tomorrow is the semi-final of The Voice! Very exciting. I always find it one of the most fun shows because so much happens and there is a lot of tension in it.’’

Do you still have that Friday feeling?
‘’No, I'm so busy right now. If I didn't have to do The Voice, I wouldn't go out the door anyway. This is actually a bit of an opportunity to feel like I'm out. That I'm attending a concert. A The Voice concert!’’

We know you are not a morning person. What does your Saturday morning look like?
‘’No, I am definitely not a morning person. I hope I can sleep in a bit. We have now come up with the excuse that Lizzy, my little daughter, sleeps at my mother's when I have to present The Voice. I come home so late that I usually only go to sleep around three o'clock. So I can somewhat sleep in on Saturday morning. Usually, I still wake up around half past eight because the adrenaline from the night before is still racing through my body.’’

Okay, so on Saturday you have plenty of time to flop on the couch and relax. Do you already have a Christmas tree at home?
‘’No, I haven't had time for a Christmas tree at all. Actually, I have to, because the whole family is coming to celebrate Christmas at our place on Christmas Eve. Then there has to be a Christmas tree, so I still need to find a solution for that.’’

Does Saturday look different than Sunday?
‘’Yes, in principle. Sunday morning is sacred to me! Bikram yoga. During the week I try to go twice, but in this busy period, that really doesn't work. So Sunday morning is for me and I go to my class at a quarter past ten.’’

What does your ideal weekend look like if you don't have to take anything into account?
“Then I would really enjoy doing a bit of shopping. I hate grocery shopping, so I think that's a waste of my time. Usually, I don't have the energy to go out for dinner in the evening, so it ends up being nice at home by the fireplace with the family, cooking, and maybe having some friends over. In the summer, my weekend looks different. Then I want to go out and eat out.’’
