The 6 best all inclusives in the world

Going on vacation to an all inclusive resort. That's something you wouldn't dare admit in company. It sounds like my beautician from back in the day who always went on vacation with a bracelet around her wrist. Whether she was going to Isola Marguerita or somewhere in Turkey, that’s what she wanted to get away from. There was sun, there was a pool, and there were different restaurants, even though they all tasted the same, that’s what she thought.

A few years ago, I had my first all inclusive experience. My best friend got married and no matter what happened, she wanted sun at her wedding. Since a trip to the Maldives was a bit complicated, they booked the whole group a trip to Club Robinson in Turkey. The beach was beautiful, the food was good, and the wedding was of course heavenly. The day after the big day, we were all chilling a bit at the private beach. I walked with the fresh groom to the bar where he ordered a bottle of wine. “How many glasses would you like with that?” asked the bartender. The answer was short and very powerful. “One, why?” Then I realized; such an all inclusive isn’t such a crazy idea.

Because it’s intensely cold today and you probably long for a horizontal position, Will Grayson by John Green in one hand and a strawberry daiquiri in the other, and you want nothing but absolutely nothing else, I’m sharing the very best all inclusive resorts in the world. They were awarded by Trip Advisors 2014 with the Traveler’s Choice Awards.

Of course, in May you will do something incredibly cultural again and play one of the locals, but later, in the depths of winter, you just enjoy a bit of luxury, peace, and all the divine superficialities that come with it.

Think 2 pools, 24-hour butler service, private bungalows. Stay at least 7 days, but you probably won’t mind that.

This is definitely a favorite of mine. Especially because it looks very beautiful and doesn’t look so resort-ish. The massage rooms, the enormous indoor pool (the pinnacle of luxury), the photos of the cocktails, and the knowledge that it’s about 26 degrees there in January makes me want to book NOW.

Didn’t you have wedding plans? When you see this, you’ll want to go on a honeymoon. Destination Maldives. The most beautiful bungalows, a bar on the beach, massage huts on the sand. Everything, everything, everything breathes luxury. The good news is that you can get there with Arke Fly. There are already all inclusive offers for 1850 euros, including flight and full board stay. I think that’s reasonable.

I find this a too massive resort. Big, uninviting, and impersonal. But it’s on the list, so I’m sharing it with you. But I wouldn’t go there.

This reminds me of Carrie Bradshaw and her failed honeymoon with Big. I would skip it, but go there for a low price with your dearest friends and you’ll have a great time.

What is it with resorts and extremely long names? This is the thick-wood-saws-planks resort. Private beach, various pools, an average temperature of 28 degrees, but, mind you, 11 rainy days per month. Although there’s probably a masseur and an indoor pool to prevent the rain from ruining your vacation.
