The nicest museum shops in the Netherlands
You don't have to be very cultural or artistic to visit a museum. Most museum shops are so nice that you immediately want to buy everything. These are the five nicest ones in the Netherlands that we love so much.
Liesbeth once visited here and told me: “I spent more time in the shop than in the museum”.” Now the Stedelijk is definitely a very cool museum, especially since the renovation, and the shop has really improved as well. So you should definitely plan an afternoon for both. What can you find in the huge shop? International art, design, and photography books that you want to have open on the table all day, but also design products and jewelry. Not just anything, no, art from small designers from all over the world can be found there. If you're looking for a nice children's book, you're also in the right place. Because they are selected for originality and uniqueness, so you are definitely good for gifts.
The shop of the Gemeentemuseum is not very big, but what they have is particularly nice. They have an enormous amount of beautiful cards, from photos to illustrated art books and small gifts. It's very nice that for almost every exhibition a special children's book is made, for example Coco or the little black dress, so it remains a fun outing for the children.
For the graphic lovers among us, the MOTI is really worth a visit. I might even find the shop more enjoyable. They have an enormous assortment of books where all those graphic arts come into their own beautifully. And cards. And crafts. And posters. And actually everything that makes every graphic eye very happy.
Once you've seen all the beautiful and nice bags in the museum, I completely understand that you immediately feel the urge to buy something. Maybe the Proenza’s and I am looking at which sneakers can find a spot in my suitcase. Not too many of course, because I’m going to shop for sneakers like crazy. My favorites at the moment are my Roshe Runs. They fit like slippers and I can tell you that is a breath of fresh air after three weeks of plaster and they also look really nice aren't displayed there, but there are original pieces and handmade items. Also Het Parool chose the shop of the Tassenmuseum as the best museum shop in the Netherlands. It's a candy store.
The shop is actually just as beautiful as the museum itself. They have an extremely wide range of art, a bit more affordable than the Night Watch that hangs in the museum itself, and special gifts. For example, the old Dutch tulip vase. Also nice is that you can create your own masterpiece in the Rijksstudio.
