ZALANDO’S BLOGGER AWARDS 2014
Just like yesterday when I wrote Destination Killerbody for the very last time, I am also sitting at a table with a view over Italian trees and vineyards while I type this. I am on vacation in Tuscany for two weeks, in an area where I have been coming my whole life and always feel at home. This vacation is sacred. Together with my father, I drive to the house, my sister flies in with a friend, my friends and loved ones will also come by, it is always an open house with many visitors.
But this year it will be a little different. This Wednesday evening, I will get on the plane to return to Amsterdam, only to turn back to Pisa again on Friday morning. I am going to interrupt the long-awaited and much-needed vacation for a few days for a good reason: because together with May-Britt, I am on the jury of Zalando’s Blogger Awards 2014, which will be awarded on Thursday, and that is definitely worth the trip.
During this award ceremony, there are three Awards: the Jury Award, the Newcomer Award, and the People’s Choice Awards. The first two are chosen by the jury, which besides us consists of Ellen Snijder (founder of Fashionchick.nl), Rob Zomer (director of FashionWeek Netherlands), and Elseline Tolhoek (fashion editor of Zalando.nl). On Thursday evening, during an exclusive party that is only accessible to invited guests, it will be announced who will win, and I can already tell you, I know! Haha. The evening will be hosted by Yara Michels from Chapter Friday , so it can’t be anything but a lot of fun.
Now there is good news. As I mentioned, the award ceremony and the afterparty are only accessible to invited guests, which is always a bummer, the best parties come with such a strict guest list. Butrrr not anymore! Because we are allowed to give away 3 times 2 spots on the guest list, so you can also be there. You will be present at the show that opens the evening: ZERO by Nanine Linning featuring work from the pride of the Netherlands, Iris van Herpen (her designs are worn by Lady Gaga, just to name one). Then the evening will transition into the award ceremony (exciting!) and afterwards you can sit back because there will be a number of surprise performances for you, and of course that famous notorious afterparty. Around 01:00 it will be over again and you can go home, with tired dancing feet of course.
