I'M GOING TO PARIS AND I'M TAKING

As I write this, Jet and I are sitting in the courtyard of Hotel Costes. Jet is having a green tea, I’m having a glass of grape juice. Sorry. The ladies from Detox Delight should just look to the left for a moment. Or to the right. But in any case, don’t read this piece. It’s my second one after all. But hey, we’re in Paris and the party lasts only a day, so we’re making the most of it. For Jet, it might be her 91st time in Paris, but her first round trip with a business purpose. What turned out? I actually had quite a few handy tips for her.st Are you crazy, that will never fit. Your laptop, your charger (who has the answer to the question of why your battery drains in foreign countries), your makeup bag, and of course a pair of comfortable shoes. Poor Jet put on her Lanvin boots because she wanted to look her most fashionable and thought she just had to tough it out. “If May can do it, I can too,” she thought. But I just had a pair of ballerinas in my rolling suitcase. Really, everyone understands it when you have a suitcase with you, and besides, every place you go has a reception that will keep it for you.

Moreover, it’s super handy to store your purchases in between. Your suitcase and your business trip image remain intact.

Preferably from the brand you have an appointment with, of course. We understand that you might not have all the labels in your closet, but your colleagues might, and otherwise, there’s always that really nice website rewear.com where you can lease a bag. I recommend crossbody because a. it looks really cool and b. it’s proof against pickpockets.

I don’t know about you, but since you can pay with a card everywhere, I almost never have cash with me. When I go abroad, I make sure I always have at least a hundred euros (or dollars) in cash with me. In foreign countries, you can’t always pay by card in taxis, and it’s also handy if you want to give a small tip to the people who have lovingly and attentively looked after your rolling suitcase.

Fortunately, you no longer have to print your Thalys ticket. Just take a screenshot of your barcode and you’re done. It’s also handy to take screenshots of the emails containing all your appointments. If you don’t have internet for a while, you can just go to your images and know where you are.

As I said, abroad my iPhone seems to have a leak; it drains so quickly. I have a very nice black case that can charge my phone twice. That really gets me through the whole day.

Believe me, if you have a statement jacket and bag with you, you can also get into the good restaurants without a reservation. They really appreciate that in Paris. If you really can’t find a spot, you can play your last card and say: “Nous avons reservé au nom de Von Furstenberg.” The French are very sensitive to that. Jet is now looking a bit disapproving, but in love, war, and during Paris Couture Week, maybe not everything is allowed, but a lot is.
