FUN WITH FRED
Under the motto ‘wrinkles are not fun’, Fred van Leer invited me to a ironing workshop. Now you can probably name a hundred things that are more fun than ironing, I find it a nice little task. I must be genetically predisposed, because my grandparents had a large laundry, but I become intensely happy from neat piles of laundry.
And yes, I also iron underwear (not those little things of my own, but those of my husband and daughters) and tea towels. For the super tight piles and razor-sharp fold lines, but also because it is hygienic. An iron is hotter than 100 degrees and thus kills all bacteria. So you don't have to wash extremely hot to achieve that.
Anyway, you don't need to teach me ironing pleasure, but if it can all be faster and easier, then I'm definitely open to that. I can certainly think of something more fun. Anyway, Fred arrived with four particularly well-groomed men and the CareStyle 5 steam generator from Braun. And it's a gem, I tell you. Let me just mention the advantages.
It has a temperature for everything
I don't know how it is for you, but I always find it very difficult to estimate what setting the iron should be on. Is this dress more wool or more silk? I may know a bit about fashion, but I'm not a fabric expert.
You can ‘forget’ it’
You're ironing, the bell rings, you chat a bit and before you know it, a burning smell greets you. Has that happened to you, or not? Doesn't matter with this device. I left it on my silk blouse for five minutes (yes, I find that exciting) and nothing happened. You can hold this iron against an inflated balloon and it won't pop. Don't ask me how it works, but it does. And after ten minutes, it turns off by itself.
Children’s lock
I often have visions of such a hot iron falling on my child's head because they pull on the cord. This device can be locked so it simply can't fall.
Over the buttons
No more fiddling with buttons that you have to maneuver around. This device has a raised sole that allows you to just take those buttons along. Anyone still have a wrinkled shirt for sale?
Steam now
Press the button and you get a strong burst of steam from the device. Ideal for delicate dresses over pleated skirts and perfect during photo shoots.
Anyway, you understand: I want this thing. I sincerely hope that after writing this dazzling piece (which I mean every word of, mind you) I will receive it with a bow and a bottle of champagne. And you probably want it too. Just take a look at strijkenmetfred.nl for the best ironing tips and, rapapapa rapapa, you can win a shopping day with my cheerful friend Fred including 500 euros shopping credit. If that doesn't make you intensely happy.
