A good start is half the work

“And Jet, how do you manage to have exercised before you go to work?”

This question sounds familiar to me, as I get asked it often enough.

But it happens just a bit more often that I am too rushed in the morning and that is actually not a good start to my day.

Time to do something about that, I thought, and Pure Leaf helps me out with that. It is a new iced tea, made with freshly brewed tea (that fits perfectly in my alley, you know me). Pure Leaf is all about pure and ‘real’ living, enjoying the little things. I think that’s a great goal, and that’s why I took on the challenge with myself to incorporate that a bit into my own daily routine and thus do something about those rushed mornings.

My own checklist and tips that I use to avoid rushing in the mornings:

We start with a simple one: go to bed on time. That way you wake up well-rested and jump out of bed faster.

Snoozing is forbidden.

And if you go to bed on time, you can also set the alarm a bit earlier. Even if it’s just a quarter of an hour, and that’s not meant to stay in bed, but to have a bit more time for your morning ritual.

Start the day with a cheerful tune. That’s actually the first thing I do when I get out of bed. Music on, and if I’m in a good mood, I also light some candles. That creates an incredibly happy, yet relaxed morning.

Set a timer when you go shower that goes off after three minutes. Hoppa, out! That’s long enough anyway.

End your shower with ice-cold water, as that gives you such an incredible boost and you’re immediately rid of your sleepiness.

Lay out your clothes the night before. Man, that can save me a lot of time.

I’m a huge fan of overnight oats and that’s handy because it’s a breakfast you prepare the night before and put in the fridge. Boom, ready to eat the next morning. No hassle with mixers and juicers, but still incredibly healthy.

Also try to eat at the table with a newspaper or laptop, that’s fine too. Don’t shove it in quickly. That gives you such peace.

Well, now you’ve had an incredibly calm morning, at least I have. Everything revolves around going to bed early and setting that alarm on time. And then stepping out of bed immediately, okay? Oh, and if I may mention Pure Leaf again, because that’s why I now have a much more relaxed morning. Have you tried the new flavors yet? My favorite is lemon. Then I add a slice of fresh lemon, an ice cube, a sprig of mint, and all that in a nice glass, and I’m a happy person.

Conclusion? I can tell you: it helps! You feel so much better when you get through the morning less rushed.
