Yesterday we talked about food markets. Markets where you can do your grocery shopping, but also hang out for a plate of food, a local beer, or a cold glass of wine. Today we will talk about food festivals. Like the Parade, (which unfortunately ended this weekend, but you get what I mean). Not festivals to dance at, but where food and a bit of drink play a big role. I’m playing for the agenda and who knows, I might run into you at one of these festivities.

Amsterdam

Bacchus September 4, 5 and 6

Wine. Wine. Wine. Josselin and our sales director couldn't walk straight within an hour last year. You could say that's a good sign. At this festival, there are dozens of tents selling wine. Wine merchants and restaurants let you taste the most delicious grapes, and to avoid getting too drunk, there’s plenty to eat as well. If you want, there are tasting tables where sommeliers are happy to share their stories. You buy a wine glass at the beginning and keep it with you for the rest of the day (okay, you can swap it for a clean one if you really want to). At the end, you get a deposit back. Here you can buy tickets.

Haarlem

Proefpark Haarlem August 28, 29 and 30

Entry is free, but don’t forget to bring a blanket. You can plop down somewhere in the grass and now and then walk to a food truck for a snack. If you like, you can also join a yoga class and there’s music. Now let’s hope for nice weather.

Apeldoorn

Lepeltje Lepeltje August 21, 22 and 23

Culture and food. That’s what it’s all about here. Small tents, large food trucks, and wine bars. Waffles on wheels: says enough. The tastiest wood-fired pizzas can be found here and ‘Sisters on the Move’ are said to make the best coffee. “Or if you like Spanish sausage,” seems pretty clear to me, and Mr. Temaki makes amazing sushi. And I’ve only mentioned a few attractions so far. I’m definitely here. Are you too?

Dordrecht

Pop-Up Market August 30

Live music and a whole square full of food stalls. A barbecue trailer, a crêperie, and some vintage market stalls.

The Hague

TREK festival September 10, 11, 12 and 13

Here, the best food trucks come out to provide you with burgers, fries, poffertjes, satay, chicken, fish, cake, oh man, too much to mention. The lights hang in the trees and the later it gets, the cozier and more romantic it becomes. Here and there some music, so if you want, you can dance.

Den Bosch

BOURGONDISCH ’S-HERTOGENBOSCH September 10, 11, 12 and 13

Top restaurants from the area come together to let you taste their favorite dishes for four days. You can eat outside at stalls or inside their restaurant. You pay with coins they call Gerritjes. Just for that, it seems to me this is already super cozy.
