AMSTERDAM WELCOMES: TOPSHOP

It has been buzzing through the city for a while, a Topshop is coming. The old building of De Slegte on Kalverstraat was completely renovated, wrapped in large scaffolding with a banner displaying the text “Here comes Topshop.” And it took a while, but from today the promised word has come true, there is a Topshop. Last night was the exclusive pre-opening and this morning at 11:00 the doors opened, “we expect long lines at the door,” said the boy behind the cash register last night somewhat apprehensively.

The store is, as you would expect from Topshop, quite enormous. Three floors full of all the delights you are used to from the chain, and they have also thought of the men because on -1 is Topman. Last night I got to shop with a glass of bubbles in my hand (with discount, #lovemyjob) and found love in a military green bomber jacket, The Perfect Denim Shirt and a pair of always-good-black-strappy-heels (because I didn’t have enough shoes yet ) A Topshop in the city is wonderful, but also life-threatening.
