Amayzine

That you can both have a very different kind of love for beauty is proven by opposites and Amayzine's beauty editors Coco & Josselin. While one screams ‘full and striking’, the other says ‘subtle and small’. This time Joss is going head-to-head with Coco who goes for the striking fully pigmented eyeshadow palettes while Josselin takes care of the calm and always-good nudes . Let the battle begin…

Round 1:

PIGMENT

Coco: “Bright colors naturally cover much faster than nude colors. You need to apply less, so you can make your palette last longer too. Money saver!”

Josselin: With nude colors , the percentage of pigment is always quite important. Nude colors don't cover very well, so you have to work quite a bit with your brush to really see a good result. But let's be honest; you don't choose nude colors for your eyes for nothing. If you still want a bit of shimmer or bronze, I recommend applying the color with a wet brush. That gives a bit more intensity to the eye and the colors come out much nicer.”

Winner: Yes, if we look purely at pigment and the simple application, it's clear that the eyeshadow palettes with bright colors are obviously the winners. Point for Coco.

Round 2:

EASE OF USE

Josselin: “If you're not an expert in the area of smokey eyes, I really advise you not to choose that. Better nothing than a rainbow eye of a drag queen. You really don't want to go through life like that. Color requires some practice. Nude colors are actually always easy to match and you won't miss the mark so quickly. So if you mess up a bit with your brush, it's not that dramatic.”

Coco: “Essential with bright colors is that you know exactly how to apply it, because it stands out so much. A wrong stroke might not be so noticeable with a nude color, but with a bright blue it definitely is. So a colored palette does require some expertise.”

Winner: Clearly nude. Equal standing Coco versus Josselin.

Round 3:

COMBINATION POSSIBILITIES

Coco: “I am very pro crazy colors on your eyes, but it's important that you first choose your outfit and then apply your makeup. I've once smeared my eyes with purple only to decide to wear a red dress. Bad combo, so I had to wipe it all off again. Not handy.”

Josselin: “Nude colors are always easy to combine. With everything. That's the relaxed part. You can be dressed in a pristine outfit, but a nude look also fits perfectly as a flamboyant bird of paradise.”

Winner: of course the nude color. Always good, never a miss, and richly combinable.

THE WINNER IS…

Nude. Of course. Often there are at least four beautiful nude colors in the eyeshadow palettes that range from light to dark. This way you can stay very natural, but you can also create a more exciting eye look. It doesn't have to be boring at all. If you want something more intense, then you go for that wet brush with which you enhance the colors even more.
