Candy is one of the lovely ladies who works at Iconic Studios. Only lovely ladies work here, so we would love to subject them all to this questionnaire, but Candy is the first to go. Why? Because we are all very curious about how she keeps herself so beautiful during all those busy days.

Morning ritual

“When I wake up in the morning, I immediately jump in the shower. That's where I wake up. I don't like too much fuss in the shower. A Dove shower gel is enough for me. I do use a product line from America specifically for curly hair. It's called Three Sisters. Then I also use the leave-in conditioner from that line. I swear by the lotion from Sensai. I think it's the most fabulous cream that exists. Furthermore, I've been using the Studio Fix from M.A.C. for about ten years. I can't and don't want to live without it.‘

5 minutes make-up

“I always use Studio Fix no. 45 from M.A.C. Not too much fuss, so a nice matte red lipstick from Yves Saint Laurent. I really like eyebrow mascara, so I use that too. Recently, I've been using the mascara from Dior on my eyelashes: Addict It Lash. Super nice, because it's blacker than black and curls your lashes well. In short; I love it. With these products, I can look fresh, well-rested and sort of flawless in five minutes. A natural base with red lips makes a lot of difference.”

Eyebrows or lashes

“Eyelashes! My eyelashes are quite short by themselves but nicely curled. I pay more attention to my eyelashes. I'm always looking for the best mascara or curler. When it comes to street style, I think well-groomed eyebrows are a bit more of a business card than eyelashes. But they should be well-groomed eyebrows. I still don't understand the eyebrow chalk line.”

Favorite perfume

“Mad et Len: Figue Noire. Because it smells incredibly good. It's a scent that is very unique and not necessarily very recognizable, I love that.

I first smelled it at Carmacoma in Amsterdam and was immediately sold.‘

Nails

“I wear nail polish every day. Every three weeks, I get my nails done at Suus on Tesselschadestraat in Amsterdam. It's a bit of relaxation and your nails look beautiful for three weeks afterwards. I always use the gel polish from OPI. The colors range from dark burgundy to red. I rarely make a strange leap in color.”

Trends

“I've always been a sneaker girl and I see the white sneaker making a big comeback in street style. From Stan Smith to Airforce, that makes me quite happy. I can't get used to sneakers with an integrated heel. I bought the version from Isabel Marant back then, but they are now somewhere far away in a box. I understood that one. But sports sneakers with a wedge heel? You won't do me any favors with that.”

Never leave home without

“Of course, I can't leave the house without my iPhone and earbuds. I think more people are like me in that regard. Furthermore, I always carry a portable charger and in terms of beauty products, my favorite Studio Fix and a jar of Rosebud lip balm.”

Unexpected beauty tip

“I learned the trick of the lemon peel from my Afghan friend. Rubbing the inside of a lemon peel over your teeth to make them whiter and remove stains. Comes in handy if you drink a lot of coffee or smoke.

If I have a drier skin in winter, I shower with a bit of baby oil. The oil absorbs into your skin while showering, you dry off afterwards and you have soft skin all day that doesn't feel greasy. Because you wash off the excess oil and dry the rest with a towel, your skin only absorbs the oil it needs. Works like a charm for me.”

Style icon

“In terms of international style icons, I go for Edith Bouvier from Grey Gardens and Carine Roitfeld. Furthermore, I think the Dutch stylist Marije Goekoop has a beautiful style.”
