– In 5 stappen de mooiste voeten –

Now that the sun has sneakily shown itself again, a number of people in our editorial team have decided to leave the stockings in the closet and put the feet in an open shoe It's fun, it's nice, but it does require some preparation, because no one is happier with a scrawny little foot. Not to have, not to look at. Fortunately, you can just do it comfortably at home, which also saves a trip to the pedicure.

Step 1 – Away with the calluses

Calluses form due to friction in your shoes. You don't want that. Now you can get to work with a callus rasp. Sounds a bit gruesome, but it removes the dead skin, which is often quite hard, in an easy way. Even easier, and totally painless, are callus socks. You wear them for a night and then all the calluses will fall off your feet over the course of the week. There are two points to keep in mind. The first is that you have to hide your feet in a sock for a week, because it doesn't look very attractive. So start as soon as possible. The second point is that your husband also needs to be out of the house for a bit, for the same reason; it really isn't attractive. But it does work.

Step 2 – Scrub

Of course, there will still be dry spots left after the calluses. Scrub the whole thing well. There are special scrubs for the feet that are very mild, but still wash away those dry spots and dead skin cells down the drain. In the meantime, also massage the feet. That only stimulates blood circulation and gives a healthy color to the feet.

Step 3 – Foot bath

With a foot bath, you soak the rest of all the loose skin and dirt off your foot. You not only relax the foot but also remove excess stuff.

Step 4 – The polishing process

I always find it particularly annoying when someone is wearing a nice open shoe or sandal, but the nails are not polished. Read; you see chipped nail polish, or no nail polish, but a little on the nail or unfiled nails. Oh dear, I could go on like this for a while. So what do you need to do? Get to work with the toe separator and the file to file the nails into perfect shape. I refer you to this link to view the step-by-step guide for polishing. Then choose a nice polish, apply a color, and enjoy it for a very long time. And not just you, also the surroundings.

Step 5 – Moisturizing

Now that you have gone through the step-by-step plan, it doesn't mean you don't have to maintain things. It is actually important to moisturize your feet every day and keep them supple. Feet dry out quickly, especially in open shoes, and you can see that quite quickly. By moisturizing, they stay soft and maintain a healthy color without scaly and dry spots. There are special foot creams that not only have a nice scent (yuck, smelly feet...), but also work extra hydrating.
