AND SO IRONING BECAME MEGA COOL

I believe I have very few secrets from you, but I don't know if I've shared my laundry obsession with you. I suspect it's hereditary, as my grandparents had the largest laundry in Utrecht. I could never play hide and seek better than there behind the large ironing presses or in one of those enormous, mobile laundry baskets on wheels.

When my mother turned forty, she got a ‘mangel’. That's an ironing machine that allows you to press your sheets, and she sat behind it like a queen. We can still be incredibly happy about new devices and gear that contribute to the perfect closet.

The champagne was chilled when I heard about the Braun CareStyle 5 steam generator. It's such a beautiful device that I find the word ‘iron’ a bit diminutive, apologies to all other irons. So from now on, I'll just call it a ‘steam generator’.

This five-star device goes straight onto my wish list, but there's more fun

Why is this a must-have? Because it has iCare technology that allows you to set one temperature suitable for all fabrics. You don't have to fiddle and turn while secretly not knowing what material your dress is made of and suddenly, ouch, you hear it scorching under your iron. That won't happen anymore. Furthermore, it has steam that is more powerful than what you're used to from a traditional steam iron, allowing you to finish twice as fast. I find that absolutely ideal for sheets and duvet covers because let's face it; there's little more enjoyable than a freshly ironed bed.

Another handicap I sometimes have is that I get my iron stuck in a buttonhole or snag on a button. This steam generator has a rounded 3D soleplate that allows you to glide smoothly backwards everywhere. Oh, just take a look here for a moment to see what this wonder device can do.
