Celebs celebrate the new year in Dubai

You would think that celebs are very concerned about their privacy in their free time and like to escape the madness of fame. Yet, in practice, this often turns out differently, as they still like to stick together – even on their vacations. Now, there were St Barths and Aspen always popular destinations for the Christmas holiday and last summer everybody who’s anybody in Ibiza. This winter it is Dubai literally and figuratively hotter than hot among the rich and famous. 

Cristiano Ronaldo and his girlfriend Irina Shayk stayed in Dubai for Christmas, Nikkie Plessen celebrated sandy holidays with her family in the ultra-luxurious desert state, and currently young Hollywood has moved there.

The half-Dutch Gigi Hadid and her model friend Kendall Jenner went to the United Arab Emirates last weekend together with Selena Gomez and were followed last week by Cody Simpson, Gigi’s boyfriend, and his buddies to ring in the new year with a fun large group of attractive people.

This group didn’t just party. They also did a bit of culture with a visit to the mosque, but the desire to capture every movement in detail cost Selena Gomez dearly. An Instagram post where she is completely veiled but shows a slightly too sexy bare ankle received angry reactions from the Muslim world. The photo has since been removed and should not dampen the further fun, as evidenced below.
