That you can both have a very different kind of love for beauty is proven by opposites and Amayzine’s beauty editors Coco & Josselin. While one screams ‘full and striking’, the other says ‘subtle and small’. This time, the deep and heavier scents compete against the fresh and more accessible variants. What do the beauty bitches think?
Heavy vs light perfume
Coco: “How could it be anything else than that the first scent I remember is Chanel N°5? My mother surely suffocated my diapers under this perfume. Hello, she was obliged to do that for herself, but also for me, with such a name. This also explains my overall love for perfume and my preference for the heavier bottles in particular. Beautiful robust scents that embody the elegant woman, I already get goosebumps of pleasure just thinking about it!”
Of the next three women's fragrances, Coco's little nose goes wild:
- Nuit of Hugo Boss is a tough but subtle women's fragrance. This is really such an incredible first date perfume.
- I could take a bath in La Nuit Trésor of Lancôme, I find it so delicious. Since I am often called a walking perfumery, I prefer to save this one for the evening. The somewhat Asian undertone in the scent makes it very suitable for a dinner or a night of cocktail bar hopping.
- Okay, this is a typical case of heavy, heavier, heaviest, but with Angel of Thierry Mugler you can trust that it won't fade. Red carpet ahead? Then Thierry is your partner!
Josselin: “My very first fragrance was Davidoff Cool Water. I remember very well that I got it for Christmas and then asked for a new one for my birthday. God, I sprayed myself silly because I found it quite nice. After that, I always stuck to the light and fresh scents. Davidoff has since made way for Chanel Eau Tendre, Miss Dior, and the fresh variants of Jo Malone. And for these three new ones in the office, all other fresh scents can just slide over a bit.”
These three fragrances help you stay fresh and fruity through the summer:
- Enormous nostalgia, this scent. But this limited edition is so incredibly nice that the nostalgia becomes completely current again. Cool Water, Summer Seas Limited Edition, 100 ml, €32.40, Davidoff
- Say gin tonic, then you say summer, then you say Josselin-happy. So yes, since I can't drink gin tonics all day (in fact: two is more than enough), I find my happiness in this scent from CK One. Citrus, gin, and star anise in a bottle. Together, that gives everything a very summery scent and my husband can also have a sip.
- This purse spray from Miss Dior is really a standard in my bag. The bottle not only looks super chic, it's also just an incredibly nice and fresh scent. Dior Purse Spray, €97.65, Dior
