Crazy about eyeliner!
Maybe it's because I used to always watch the cheesy, but oh so juicy MTV The Hills. There, Lauren Conrad a.k.a. LC always had a perfect line above her eyes. I think it took me three years and definitely a thousand cotton swabs to get a steady hand, but by now I am a skilled eyeliner artist. A bare eyelid is really a no go for me. My eyeliner history does have some trends. I started with a thick line and over the years it became a bit thinner. For a number of years, I drew it all the way past my eye, at least a few millimeters. At the moment, I draw a thin line and accentuate the outer corner with eyeshadow. But how do we achieve that perfect line?
Practice on your hand
This is only for beginners, or if you've just purchased a new one. But play around with the liner on your hand. Then you know what thickness it has and you can practice your steady hand.
Line by line
As I said: by now I can draw a tight line from the inside out in one go. If you can't do this, you can put short lines next to each other, which will eventually form a nice line. You can always touch this up with a cotton swab.
A Cat eye
If you're going for a cat eye, like Lauren's for example, you don't do this directly. Once you've made your line, you only go to the ends to finalize it. You create a sort of elongated triangle that you fill in. This way, you can more easily make an even line because it goes in steps. Got it?
My top three
Hema
This has been my darling for years. The dip liner from Hema draws very easily. If you want a thick line, hold it slightly angled on your eyelid. For a thin line, draw it more upright.
Rimmel
The nice thing about this eyeliner is that the color is really intensely black and therefore stands out well. It also draws very easily and is nicely affordable. We love that.
Het gaat precies zoals ik wil dat een mascara is: heel subtiel. Ik begin met de fluffy kant, die geleidelijk mijn wimpers meer kleur, volume en lengte geeft. Met elke laag zie je letterlijk je wimpers groeien. Als een frequente gebruiker van een wimperkruller kan ik zeggen: met deze mascara is dat niet eens nodig. Na een paar lagen zijn mijn wimpers bedekt met een mooie zwarte laag, maar zonder de dikke, harde stokken die je met sommige mascaras krijgt. Vandaar de naam: Bounce, omdat je wimpers zacht en flexibel blijven. Dan draai ik de borstel om en gebruik ik de kam om mijn wimpers waar nodig te scheiden. Ik breng ook een dunne laag aan op mijn onderste wimpers met de kam. En voilà: mijn wimpers zijn gelukkig (dankzij de voedende ingrediënten), en ik ben gelukkig. Bounce, je maakt mijn dag.
This Benefit eyeliner is the first on the market where the liquid comes out of such a precision pen. This immediately creates a strong black line, which is nice. I must say: this pen is for advanced artists like me. Otherwise, I would go for number 1 or 2.
